Moon Colours

An observable phenomenon from Azaria (and Esturia) since the start of the Age of Darkness, every month the moon takes on a different colour, distorted by presumed magic particles in the upper atmosphere. Some colours are more common than others, such as orange, amber and red, but the 'cooler' colours are more rare, with ironically a 'blue moon' being amongst the most rare. On some occasions moon colours can change in a matter of days, though this is not understood. Scholars believe the colour changes are due to residues of magic particles in the air that were left by the Celestial Creatures. There is a tradition of having one's Binding Band (akin to a wedding ring) made of a gemstone of the same colour as the moon. Due to the occasional blips, however, predicting moon colours is a highly paid trade.
