Nyax - God of Deception

With deadly efficiency and feats of trickery, Nyax stands as the patron god of murder and deception. Known predominately for his claims of 'tending to balance' by assassinating targets he claims deserve to die for the natural order, he is a surprisingly alluring deity to varying schools of thought. A naive person may find his reasoning noble and agree with his logic. With a bit of mental gymnastics, a poor, well meaning person could be considered a waste of space especially if they are seen as sapping resources from the remaining population.   Whether or not there's truth to this claim is inconsequential, as many non-believers, and even some devotees, see this gas-lighting and self questioning as his greatest deception of all. When taken into consideration that he also condones thieves who, by definition, steal resources from the population, it makes sense why he is also referred to as 'The Two Faced God'. His followers consider this duality and potential hypocrisy as necessary for what is the greater deceit, simply convincing someone you're a certain way, or convincing someone you're a certain way only to subvert that expectation?   Other feats he is recognized for is for his frequent thefts, particularly of magic and magical artifacts. His most notorious success was when he slipped into the home of the Eternal Magus Kazohir - God of Magic while he was asleep and silently absconded with his finger. This granted him access to conjured fire that he would not otherwise have, and is used in several myths as a means to distract or provide a smoke screen to allow him to slip into.

Physical Description

Apparel & Accessories

Nyax is depicted in dark, assassin's attire, most notably with a hood and mask. While the clothes can vary slightly, their colors are almost always black and always with a sinister depiction. Some envision part of his body as giving off black smoke, to help illustrate his propensity for slippery escapes after his famed thefts and killings.   In the art that does show under the hood, it will never depict his face, and instead show off a mask, white in varying hues, and usually with some small mark of blood ranging from a few dots near the jawline to a subtle finger line along the forehead. This white mask is cited as a means to deceive, not simply by hiding his face, but by showing a color of purity under an otherwise dark and villainous veil. To his followers this is the nuanced 'good and just' behind his actions, to others, it's yet another means to lie and subvert.
