Fyrstorm Folly

long ago, the chared ones, beings from the sun went on a rampage on Ayyem and stole souls from innocent people across the lands. the chared ones brought souls to the flame of Venos, the last remnant of a forgotten old deity of the sun. the more souls fed to the flame of Venos, the larger and brighter the sun grew and began to engulf the lands in eternal flame and ash. the gods intervened, calling forth Yorc, father of winter, and used his powers to destroy the flame and the charred ones, but the world was instead brought into an age of ice. then Jol, a mortal man went on a quest to find the embers of Venos and used them to return the world to its age of harmony and peace. even though the charred ones were destroyed and the sun returned to its place in the sky, every day the sun grows larger and larger until the world becomes the hottest it can be, however, it is much weaker and less of a threat than what happened in the age of old. now we celebrate the brightest day with banners and festivals dedicated to the gods that stopped it, but in the second half of the day, the banners are put down and replaced with banners for Jol, father of the flame and joy, and one person is chosen out of the crowds to climb the highest point in town and light a fire using a torch.   Fyrestorm folly is celebrated mostly in the northern realms but is also recognized by followers of the Blue Pantheon, the Druidic Gods, and the Lodge of Jol. Fyrstorm Folly was first celebrated by the worshippers of Jol and his lads, but during the wars between the old gods and the new gods of Janyulai, the lodge of Jol grew in popularity, due to its mellow beliefs and customs.
