Ayalyn

Most of the elves are dead after the spellplague, and a lot of knowledge about arcane magic is gone with them. Their grand Faraconian Empire suddenly ceased to exist from one day to the next. In the name of Pelor and Moradin, Humans and Dwarves have built the new Solatharian Empire, spanning all the way north of Ayalyn, to all the way south.   Ayalyn is a difficult place for an empire to settle however. The centre of Ayalyn is filled with ancient forests, infested with dire beasts and monsters. To the north are mountains infested with giants, golems and dragons. To the east are endless snows were snowstorms and yeti's plague the lands. To the west, deserts with barbaric sand tribes and sandstorms. And finally, in the south, endless floods bring entire cities to the seas, and ships disappear without trace.   Inside the empire is turmoil as well. New laws, which allow more leniency to magic in everyday life, have spurred controversy and unhappiness with some of the Solataharian citizens. Magic is what ruined the previous great empires, and they won't see their empire destroyed as well. To others, the young empress and archpriestess Aliyah is a blessing. Arcanists, alchemists and monster hunters no longer have to avoid the law and can live normal lives. Will this tolerance pave the way for dark magic, demons and death?
