Star of Alios

For those lost in the night, The Star of Alios is welcome sight in the night sky to guide them home.

Summary

The Star of Alios shines in the night sky directly above the northern pole of Axora and thus provides travellers in the night with a point of reference. Even seasoned adventurers and explorers such as Hajar Stoutsong are known to rely upon this celestial object upon their journeys around Axora.   It is easy to spot since it is also the brightest star by a significant margin. As day turns to night, it is the first star that can be spotted as a result. These factors are what gives it its name, as it is named after the god of light, Alios. Alios is also attributed generally to 'goodness' and in most pantheons of the world, Alios is often regarded as one of the primary deities, even though there is not a strict hierarchy. In some cultures where the god of light and god of dawn, Athar, are conflated into one being such as the Lake Guardians of Mazvinga, it is named after that combined entity. In all others, it is named after Alios or his equivalent namesake in that land. According to legend during the first days of Axora's life, the darkness itself was a danger to the first people. It is because of this, Alios deliberately left this beacon in the sky as a guide for the early races to navigate safely during night time, for getting lost was a death sentence. Of course, since no documents survived the purge that occurred just prior the Age of Discovery 10,000 years ago, no one knows exactly what dangers the first people faced. There are scattered remnants that talk about the Age of Elements that directly preceded the Age of Discovery, but very little remains of what came before that. It is referred to as The Age of Darkness for more than one reason.

Location

The star is not part of any major constellations, but can be found in the sky between the constellations of Tidur's Spear and Dragonbreath. From the continent of Aldenia, Tidur's Spear is on the left and Dragonbreath on the right. In the southern hemisphere, on the opposite of the world, this is of course, reversed (and upside down).
