Session 6: The Day of Plenty Report in Axora | World Anvil

Session 6: The Day of Plenty

General Summary

Our band of hired adventurers confirmed in the wake of the fight with the bandits that these bandits were, in fact, the ones responsible for the theft of the dancing fire (fireworks). Looting the camp provided the group with a bit of gold, weapons and a rather interesting short-helm. The silvery-with-a-hint-of-gold helm changed size to accommodate Falco's larger head, indicating that it is magical.   Liberating the cart back, the group took the cargo of dancing fire - and hostage Dwarf - with them back to Ullford without incident. They were met at the Capital Road entrance by Dwain Becker (Deputy Chief Lawkeeper) who thanked them for their work and are instructed to leave the cart here since it only needed to go to the hills outside the town walls anyway. The group are accompanied back to the Lawkeeper's Office by one of the town's Lawkeepers, however, as they had to still take their Dwarven captive back. Raffery Kloss accepted custody of the Dwarf, Thovald, and put him a cell out back.   Halatir's identification services were enlisted to identify the helm Falco found. It is known as a Helm of the Favoured. What's left of the day was mostly spent in The Hunter's Purse. Soldunn caught up with his Dwarven friends (Magrus and Brumman Ironfoot - the Blacksmiths) over a round of cards and plenty of alcohol, but Dwarven fortitude meant he was no worse for wear come the morning. The morning, of course, was the morning of a Sacred Day. The festivities started early for The Day of Plenty.   The group started with a little trinket shopping at the Blacksmith's stand. Moving on the main festival site south of the town, the group acquired a little food and drink - easily sourced since that is what The Day of Plenty celebrates first and foremost. Leo and Falco partook in a couple of rounds of Apple Bobbing, succeeding mostly. Less successful was Soldunn in his attempts at the Test of Strength. A Test that moments later, Falco aced with ease. A pie eating contest provided Leo, Soldunn and Falco with a chance at local glory. Being three of the ten contestants, the chances one would become the winner were good, but not at all guaranteed. However, the other contestants fell one by one as their constitutions failed them and remarkably left the final three as the adventurers. Most remarkable of all was that the eventual winner was the entrant who had the slightest build as Leo was crowned victorious.   Zeth'rim goes off and has his own success at a Skittle stall, winning a bunch of wooden figurines (hand carved by the Firbolg, Daehorn, they'd met at his hut a couple of days earlier). Falco tastes failure for the first time as he ventures into the woods in search of herbs for ritual casting purposes. Somehow he struggles to find plants, at least appropriate plants, in a forest. The others at this point have found the archery challenge. A challenge being run by Council Member Balde Tonte, it was set up with two levels. There was a row of targets closer to the firing line that would provide anyone who hit them with a hand carved wooden figurine like the skittle game. However, there was a target much further out for which a much larger prize awaited - a stylish shortbow donated by Halatir (and therefore presumed magical). Leo attempted the nearer targets first, and succeeds. However, the groups attempts at the further target were failure and failure. That was until Falco returned from the woods, paid for three attempts and hit the far target with two of them. Balde was a little relieved that someone had finally managed it, since the sun had nearly set by this point and it was time for the evening performace.   The group took their seats in front of the stage. Lady Ereson, Council Leader and Nobleperson for the region gave a speech and was about to intro the performer on the stage (the same Half-elf that had been performing in the Hunter's Purse all week) when a couple of the adventurers sensed a presence off to the sides. The festival was being attacked by Scarecrows!
