AXILDUSK DRAGON HOUSES

The DRAGON ROYAL HOUSES of Axildusk

rel’Avernus of Stiketto     e’Lanya of Aeglesnakt     e’Terrics of Aeglesnakt     e’Tenith of Tentacle     e’Barrit of Tentacle     e’Mondarr of Skaduan     e’N’varr of Banners

Diaborough Dragons

There is one House in Diaborough, the Marish Chala e’ Marish’Chala of Diaborough
House Marish’Chala       High Governor Kozik igh’Olann (Issola)
Kozik represents the interest of the ruler of Diaborough.     Present ruling House is the Marish’Chala Royal Line/Lineage led by a 241 year old Duchess Terhesse. She has no family. This makes the Marish'Chala a parchment house, able to rule only if others find it useful. Kozik seeks to find the best situation for the duchess.               Theresse e’Marish-Chala
H.G. Kozik igh’Olann is out for personal control of the Dragon Throne in the next cyclical turn. He will promote the queen’s cause up to the point that something/someone is more likely to gain the throne. HE MUST have a hold over whoever that is.     His hold over the duchess is that her mother is ill. He makes a show of bringing in the best healers but he has secretly decanted the situation of the Duchess Dowager so that she will get better/worse based on the Duchess’s compliance. The duchess has learned to do as told.     There are two other possible candidates that Kozik igh’Olann is monitoring for their usefulness and likelihood to gain the upper hand on Diaborough and therefore become duke and potential Emperor of Axildusk.           Marquis Dellyn rel’Koanne – Marquis of Legendary, southern Diaborough region
Viscount Ouk sen’Doavah -- Viscount of Strife, southern Diaborough region
Members of House Marish'Chala       These two men are opposed and that’s what keeps the duchess in power to this point.   H.G. igh’Olann sees the Viscount as the better possibility. His grandfather was a most capable ruler of Diaborough and the current Viscount is similarly natured. The viscount has a concubine that he wants to make his consort but cannot as his wife is the sister to Marquis rel’Koanne. It is this political marriage that keeps the peace in Diaborough. The viscount’s army is no match for the Marquis’s. The Marquis has begun to chafe at the situation but hasn’t yet committed to change. The Duchess Theresse is a potential match for the Marquis eldest son. This could lead to the Diaborough Throne and this would be a most suitable pairing to also sit the Emperor’s Throne, which would make the Marquis the actual ruler of the empire.

STIKETTO DRAGONS

There is only one Dragon House from the land of Stiketto, House Avernus.         House Avernus   Othran rel’AVernus
    Seely rel’Avernus
    Eise rel'Avernus
    Bienne rel'Avernus
Members of House Avernus     The High Lineage of Stiketto is the Avernus family. They have no current rivals in Stiketto. Due to Stiketto’s relatively small economic base, the Avernus family must rely on clever positioning and alliances to forward their cause.   They are apparently more willing than other Dragon Lineages to enter compromises and agreements. They are not gullible nor weak enough to be satisfied with a secondary role, however.     Prince Othran is the current leader. He is a conniver.     Princess Eise is his wife. She will use her famous sensuality to control others -- always for her husband’s benefit. Othran pretends to be oblivious to his wife’s indiscretions. In reality, he approves these, making suggestions as to who should be her next conquest.     Countess Seely is their daughter. She uses her mother’s dalliances to cloud her actual father’s identity. The family has purposely allowed speculation to be public. They will deny any other lineage than Othran as her father, but if it suits their overall plan to take the throne, they are positioned to create a useful possibility that Seely might be in line for the seat, thanks to her ‘actual’ father’s bloodline.     Count Beinne is the only son and youngest of the family. He is a military commander and excellent at this. His issue is the small overall size of his troops but man for man, The Faceless Horns are acknowledged as the greatest army on Axildusk. He is the most forthright of the family but that doesn’t mean he is honest in his dealings. ‘Any means necessary’, is his motto. His army is trained to act in the same way. Ambush and raids are their preferred ways. If they need to prove their versatility a second time, they are trained to make subsequent encounters with them most unpleasant.

AEGLESNAKT DRAGONS

Two families vie for control of the northern continent -- the Lanya and the Terrics.     House Lanya     Duke Nevermore e’Lanya
    Duchess Eskanth e'Lanya
    Lady Anthay e'Lanya
    Baron Moreover e'Lanya
    Baron Forever e'Lanya
    Lady Fanjsha e'Lanya
Members of House Lanya     The House Lanya is the most powerful house on Aeglesnakt. Their businesses control the ports and much of the farmland of the continent. Between these two aspects of commerce, there is little left for the Terrics House.   The Duke Nevermore is driven by due conquest. His ruthless training for all his warriors, extends to brutal battles staged annually within Lanya ranks. The losing side is forced to select troops to put into the duke’s pet project, the Dusktroops. These are husk warriors that are drones, controlled by the female sorcerers of the duchess and her daughters.     Being turned into a husk is nobody’s ambition. The troops under the duke would be few if not for the pay offered and the promise of land within the capital to build a home on. The troops serve for 510 years before they are granted the ‘Duke’s Pension’. The last ten years are called the ‘Almost Never’.     Duchess Eskanth is feared throughout Axildusk. She is the ‘Sorcerer Eventual’. This title is accorded by her peers from among all seventeen Houses. This entitlement comes with several boons. She is afforded the right to discant any spell without giving reason, including things to do with the Orb. The position also grants her the right to seize anyone for questioning without cause. The duchess is admired and watched for her gifted abilities. Some of the rivals for the Draegeran throne admire her to the point of want. If she could be convinced to leave Duke Nevermore, she would be a prized partner. Few Dragons will refuse to deal with her for both the fear of reprisal and the loss of any chance to impress her and perhaps gain her favour.     Lady Anthay has little of her mother’s desirable traits. Instead, she is her father’s daughter – a tremendous fighter. She kills even in practice duels. Most avoid confronting this difficult woman.     Baron Moreover is the familiy’s advisor in things commercial. He controls the agricultural production of Aeglesnakt. He runs the merchant ships held by the family, as well. His needs often run counter to his brother’s. His younger brother controls the naval forces of the family. Moreover has run into problems getting adequate protection for his merchant ships, which run into issues with both leviathans and Orca and other Dragon controlled vessels on the seas.     Baron Forever is House Commodore of the ducal navy. He has many non-naval interests including, raising horses, vineyards, and a series of trading posts in the hinterlands of Aeglesnakt. His more ‘worldly’ view means he is more inclined to discuss before attacking, making him an unusual Dragon.     Lady Fanjsha is a mix of her parents. A Dragon sorcerer-monk. She lost a hand in a boating accident at age 30. She has learned to overcome this disability by use of a sorcerous prosthetic hand. She has earned the nickname, ‘The Missing Witch’. Her sorcery adds an unrelenting nature to her combat expertise. She is able to stun her opponents by snapping her decanted hand’s fingers, causing opponent's to lose their attacks. She is also able to use the missing hand’s fingers to debilitate or even instantly kill her opponent.             House Terrics       Duke Eraxmyz
    Duchess Feyjsha e'Terrics
    Duchess Haushun
    Prince Senatse
Members of House Terrics     The Duke Eraxmyz is a Dragon of great age. He is somewhere 'round 4 thousand years old. He has two wives, both deemed by him to be duchesses. No one dares to argue about the impossibility of this situation. Should he die, there would need to be some resolution to the obvious problem associated with this 'indulgent' inheritance. The two women are at loggerheads which could mean the prince might inherit instead. However, there is no rule stipulating that the eldest son must do so. The two duchesses might sort out their rankings and decide to have one of them, rule.   The duke is old, but far from incapable. His sorcerers keep him amply constituted. He revels in any conflict. Some say it is his spite that keeps him alive. He wants to sit the throne as Emperor, as the culmination to a life... ‘long and well lived’.     Duchess Feyjsha is a kindly disposed Dragon who will aid the less fortunate. This has gained her a large and eager following that may prove decisive in any move to take control of the house’s fortunes. Her skills lie in healing arts but this means she does have the ‘opposite skill set’ as well.     Duchess Haushun rarely sees her husband or the rival duchess. She takes her leisure in her own domain, far from the ducal seat of power. Her ships are the Culprit Raiders. She lives on the seas more than the land. This self-imposed removal weakens her control of the seat but does mean she gains no ill-will from its citizens. She has sent much of the wealth she acquired through her reaving to the family’s lands in support of schools of fighting and sorcery. This shrewd move may have gained her more than only these schools' loyalty by doing so.     Prince Senatse is the duke’s only child. He is a powerfully built Dragon. Many feel he may be the strongest Dragon of his generation. The duke is said to have only one child because, ‘he put all his potential childrens’ powers into one body’. The prince is skilled in all weapon types but his weapon of choice is the Dragonspear. In particular, the unique, morganti-laced ‘Rendingpoint’ that he usually carries. This weapon is more than unnerving to be near, as it adds another compulsion to the oppressive atmosphere these weapons normally create. Rendingpoint creates frenzy in many who are near it. This can take several forms but the least of these is not worth dwelling upon.

TENTACLE DRAGONS

There are two ranking Princedoms on the continent of Tentacle. The Tenith and Baritt Houses split it between them.     House Tenith     Prince Dolis e'Tenith
    Princess Kija e'Tenith
    Baron Mosa e'Tenith
    Baron Nodalys e'Tenith
    Baron Oloijah e'Tenith
Members of House Tenith Prince Dolis rules the Principality of Tentacle. His control is weakened by the constant in-fighting committed by his family members. The capital is a city filled with tensions. The family’s three sons are bitter rivals to one another and all of them feel their father’s time has long since passed.   Princess Kija hates her sons for their disloyalty. She is trying to convince the Prince to adopt or get a new child by another mean Her loyalty to her husband goes further even than allowing herself to be cuckolded. She is perhaps the most loyal Dragon alive.     Baron Mosa has ambitions on Aeglesnakt where he is ‘in alliance’ with Duchess Haushun of House Terrics and her Culprit Raiders. His followers are mainly archery oriented like the baron.     Baron Nodalys is an urbane powerbroker centred in the capital. His strength is his charismatic way with people. He can convince the rich that they are poor. He is a skilled alchemancer.     Baron Oloijah lives in the north-eastern portions of the House’s regional control. He commands troops who are wild and capable. The Balvengers are the best skirmishers on the world. He has pacts with some of the Great Tribes of Draegera.             House Barrit     Prince Zadotai
    Princess Gial e'Barrit
    Baron Fuoe e'Barrit
    Baroness Oithermien e'BArrit
    Baron Verre e'Barrit
    Baroness Wayyon e'Barrit
Members of House Barrit     Prince Zadotai is young by draegeran standards. He’s ‘only’ 800. He married the much older Princess Gial to gain control, killing her previous husband. He must balance the wants of the two elder children by his predecessor, with those of his own two, younger offspring. He actually believes in merit deciding which of these children are successful but they don’t realise this about him – or they don’t trust his words to that effect. The prince despises Prince Dolis’s rulership style and the way the peoples of Tentacle are forced to live. He doesn’t come forward about how he would alter this though!   Princess Gial is 2700 years old. Her youth is fading somewhat but not as much as she perceives it to be. Her insecurity makes her susceptible to her childrens’ requests and ploys. She has a weakness for any sorcery that might extend her youthfulness. She has already been taught the lesson of pride going before the fall, when her new husband convinced her to betray her previous one. In spite of this, Gial would still consider anything that might regain her, her youth and its ‘power’ over others.     Baron Fuo is a true Dragon. He is belligerent, irascible and uncaring. His success will always be at the expense of others. He does not work with others well.     Baroness Oithermien learned lessons from her older brother. She tempers his typical Dragon nature with a practised calm demeanour that hides the Dragon-rages within her. Her anger is fuelled by her being dismissed by her mother. She has begun to wonder if she should seduce her new father Zadotai and has begun the first steps in this ploy, which her father seems to be either oblivious or receptive to.     Baron Verre is hard for the others close to him to understand. He is a cipher to them. His leanings are mysterious. His spy network is his strength – The Blue Strand.     Baroness Wayyon has the hardest role. She being youngest, is favoured by her father which makes her a target for the other three siblings as well as her mother. Wayyon is a slayer of some ability as well as a deadly warrior. She has the potential to be better than the rest but this was not only prophesised but is evident in her manner and actions. This adds to the dislike the rest of the family holds for her. Even her father has begun to be concerned that he might be supplanted in his followers’ affections by the youngest of his children.

SKADUAN DRAGONS

There is only one house in Skaduan, the Mondarr.     House Mondarr     Prince Bovisar e'Mondarr
    Princess Phaffys e'Mondarr
    Countess Shoisha e'Mondarr
    Count Beynar e'Mondarr
    Count Daffiar e'Mondarr
Members of House Mondarr       Prince Bovisar has been a capable leader for the past thousand years. His lands prosper with his concentrated effort on wines, fur and metalworks. He is a gifted sorcerer who might be the next rival to Duchess Eskanth of House Lanya. His sorceries use creatures or monsters in the main. He has also enslaved many members of the Great Tribes of Draegera through his decantings.   Princess Phaffys is her husband’s not-so-secret weapon. She wields her great weapon, ‘Fatekiller’ in his name. Her fame as a spectacular fighter is worldwide. She can use her bow with such skill that she carries no hand-to-hand weapons -- no swords, no knives! In an enshrouded quiver it is said that she carries three morganti arrows. She has such skill with archery that she is yet to use any of these.     Countess Shoisha is a wastrel given to hedonism. She has gone native. She loves being with the Tribes especially the Shahsans.     Count Beynar loves airships and takes all opportunities to be aloft. His father has used Beynar’s love of the air to convince him to become something of an excellent information gatherer. While not exactly spies, Beynar has a group of followers called, The Aquamarines who have learned to be able to drop into places, gain control or collect information and withdraw, with little that can be done about it.     Count Daffiar is a thoughtful and odd Dragon. His fighting skills are good but his nature means that he looks for an advantage in more unusual ways. His experiments with differing alchemical concoctions has resulted in him forming a new branch of war and fighting. This, he has titled, ‘Losswar’. The style is practised by the most dedicated as using it can result in the death of the Losswar practitoner. It uses a chemical-decanted lotion that coats the user’s limbs and makes them explosive.

BANNERS DRAGONS

The land of Banners is unusual. The law of this small continent says that marriage is illegal. The kingdom was founded by this principle resulting from family in-fighting millennia ago. These feuds almost destroyed all families on Banners. Now, couples form but they must be temporary, limited to 17 years. Having to rely essentially on only yourself, means that this land is a true meritocracy. It also means that Banners can be a pit of viperous, venomous Dragons. The Dragons here can’t have long-term families so they are all considered the same family: The N’varr.     House N’varr     Kalothanne e'N'varr
    Ailbien e'N'varr
    Oslnaw e'N'varr
    Peloi e'N'varr
    Wasserkan e'N'varr
    Yevien e'N'varr
    Kweneroish e'N'varr
Members of House N'varr     Kalothanne is the most 'respected' of the N’varr. This isn’t saying a great deal but it is worthwhile noting it. She tries to prove her overall leadership by acting as a peacemaker and deal bringer among the other N’varr. This is typically viewed with both distrust and derision by the others.     She persists because she sees this course as the only way for Banners to survive among more powerful continental forces in play.     She is a user of druidical decanting.         Ailbien is the oldest of the N’varr claimants. He is a powerful enlivener. His skills with husks extends to having several hundred enthralled at once. His control appears absolute. There is a chance that he will lose control should he grow too emotional. For this reason, Ailbien often appears aloof and dismissive. In reality, he is a caring person dedicated to Banners. It is this that has kept Kalothanne in her prominent position. She does not see this.     Oslnaw is a new decanter of enflaming powers. He has discovered this power at the southern end of Banners. There is a group of Shahasans there who have formed a sect dedicated to the promotion of the enflaming decantations.     Peloi is a privateer commander. His fleets range through the seas but most importantly have charted a route into the Enclipse. From there, his fleet has gained access to many more splinters than are commonly found. These he hoards for future use. He has informed the others of his treasures. He is a major force and openly states his desire for power and a role in leading the Dragons of Axildusk.     Wasserkan is an alchemancer. His efforts in this are without parallel on Axildusk. His trading house plies the seas between the continents looking for rare compositional substances to further his researches. His skin is permanently affected by his many risky experiments.     Yevien is a Shadowtouched. The draegerans view this as a blessed-curse. All Shadowtouched have an unknown father. Their mothers are innocent of the knowledge of how they became pregnant.   Yevien has made the best of her origin. It isn’t unheard of for a Shadowtouched to make something of themselves as they do have gifts, but few have risen as high as Yevien. Her powers are aided by her slayers, The Pennant Compact.     Kweneroish is thought to be a Monstrous. He had married a draegeran but she died some time ago. In their time together, they amassed a considerable fortune and influence in Banners’s affairs, which he maintained after her passing.     His 'monstrous' outlook puts him at odds with most but they all view him as a defanged viper as he could never be considered a possible leader. For this reason he is listened to and valued as a potential scales-tipping ally. He has many associations among the Great Tribes of Draegera.
