Kalikari

Overview

Kalikari is a large port city located on the east coast of southern Valothmir. It belongs to the group of cities within southern Valothmir that identify as free cities and belong to no kingdom. However, a loose alliance is maintained between these cities to rival any conquering force like the Dralindur Imperium who would seek to steal their homes. The city has a reputation for housing pleasure of all kinds. The place is abundant in rich foods, drinks and entertainment. Though it is also known for its less reputable pleasures such as whore-houses, recreational drugs, gambling and its crucibles.

Government

The ruling class of Kalikari is determined by an election and crucible. Five of the six members are determined via vote and the sixth changes out each year and is the most recent Kalikari Conqueror  Whilst, the other five is decided by vote the roles generally don't change hands as the most popular people tend to be the owners of prosperous establishments, thus the wealthiest individuals. Even if their means of obtaining wealth are not exactly above board.

History

The city was founded in 2500 V.E by the veldren who set it up as a city for their own pleasures. Veldren from around Valothmir would often visit Kalikari to partake in the pleasures it had on offer. It was also an excellent opportunity to earn money as the crucibles were a chance to pit their best mortals in a battle to the death for money. After the ascension and the mortals rise to power Kalikari remained a city of pleasure. The only real difference the city has undergone during the mortal era is that both mortals and veldren govern the city. The Crucible is now optional, and on offer to all for their chance to fame and money, though the brutality of the even remains.
