Deravos

Overview

Before the The Mortal Ascension the continent of Deravos was ripe with life and peoples. Now it is an ashen wasteland. The entire surface of Deravos is inhospitable due to constant ashfalls. The only life that survived the the Ascension on the continent was those that could live underground and thrive without sunlight or surface flora. The people who remained moved underground and live in small isolated settlements. They rarely make contact with the rest of Axeram as they are generally hostile towards people who worship The Guardians or The Venientium . 

History

Pre-Ascension, Deravos had the highest population on Axeram and its leaders were heavily focused on progressing the Veldren's understanding of magic and science. Due to their progressive mindset many Mortals were sacrificed for experiments and the pursuit of knowledge. The collective culmination of Mortal deaths during the Ven era double every other continent combined.
The specific reason for Deravos' state is unknown, however it coincides with the end of the Mortal Ascension. Whilst the war spread across all of Axeram, the climax of the conflict was fought on Dervaos. Whatever transpired between the Guardians and the Ven resulted in the cataclysmic event that has turned the continent into an Ashen wasteland. The same event has also caused no magic to work within the continent and its surrounding waters. 
Immediately after the Mortal Ascension several attempts were made to search for survivors on Deravos; however, being unaware of the anti-magic field led to several crashed airships.
