Daelan's Quill

Overview

Daelan's Quill is an enchanted quill with the capability to enslave minds. Created by Daelan Ceardaí, the quill predates Alloy Casters which is his more famous and widespread invention. When people discovered Daelan Ceardai's invention of the Quill, they began to call him the dark smith.

The Process

The quill itself can permanently sear commands into organic material, as easily as writing on paper with ink. Those who have been marked with Daelan's Quill are forced to obey the written command/s until they're removed. The only way to remove such markings is to remove the flesh and bone of where they were made. (E.g. If the commands were written on a leg if the limb was severed so would its curse.) Alternatively, powerful healers have the capacity to remove them, though such talented casters are extremely rare.
The process of using the quill requires the user to write a command onto the victim in any language. The writing then changes into intricate designs that imitate and are indistinguishable from tattoos to an untrained eye.

Location

The quill itself is impossible to differentiate from a regular quill, and can still be used as such. Only when writing on organic material does it reveal its true nature. The location and current holder of Daelan's quill are unknown as Daelan himself has gone missing. Due to the quill's regular appearance, there are many traders and collectors who claim to have it in their possession
It's entirely possible one of these people own it. Though it's far more likely that it sits on the desk of a random person who writes with it every day. Unaware of the potential within their hands.
