Overview
Everyone in the Kingdom of Igrahne-Valen know of the Cenros quarry. It's the one place no one wants to visit. The largest prison on the continent of Valothmir with the worst criminals. A pit of stone and blood.
Conditions
Cenros quarry is a cruel place. Even by the standard of prisons. Criminals kept are forced to work all day under the harsh sun with no form of sun protection. They spend the entire time in iron chains that restrict their movement. After a day's work, they enter caves mined in the side of the quarry and sleep on the cold stone locked behind an iron door. Death is a regular occurrence within the quarry whether by disease condition or other inmates. Hence it being referred to as a pit of stone and blood. The overseers of the quarry show no kindness and treat the prisoners as no better than the dirt on their shoes.
History
The quarry was formed in 400 M.E as a regular quarry that would supply the surrounding areas with a wealth of quality stone. During the war between the kingdoms of Igrahnesil and Valen, a surplus of prisoners of war were filling the prisons within the kingdom of Vale. On top of that soldiers for the war were in short supply. The decision made by the current monarch was to send the quarry workers off to war and enforce the prisoners into hard labour within the Quarry. Ever since the Cenros quarry has been a prison for the worst of criminals. All were sent to work for the kingdom that captured them. No better than slaves. Even if the kingdom of Igrahne-Valen claims to be 'slave-free'.
