Celestial Lotus Flower

Overview

The celestial lotus flower is a native plant to the arctic landscape of Malidis. It grows out of solid ice and its petals look as though made from stars. Its origin and growth are unkown as the ice should not be able to maintain life. Yet the celestial lotus still grows. The flower blooms only at night when a clear view of the stars is offered. The plant does not survive when placed in dirt or water. Only when it's held in ice does the flower live.

Uses

The petals of the celestial lotus flowers when infused into tea provide incredibly enhanced eyesight for the user. Within the Arctic Dwellers culture they are often used to the purpose of stargazing. However, in the rest of Axeram it is used for less recreational purposes. Assassin's or archers often use the enhanced eyesight to better hunt their prey. Some militaries even have designated spotters who drink the tea and use it to look over a battlefield and provide more accurate reports. The effects of the lotus flower only last for 2 hours, and if the user doesn't drink more their eyesight falters to the point of almost being blind until a few hours are spent in sleep/relaxation.   The flower is also a highly sought after aesthetic piece by the rich of Axeram. Especially since maintaining the flower is not easy. They are almost a symbol of status within courtrooms and it is not uncommon to find carefully made fakes for people who do not wish to go through the efforts of maintaining the unusual flower.

Symbolic

The celestial lotus flower is also used as a symbol that represents the Arctic dwellers. Most of their cultural exports are stamped with a seal depicting the flower, and any who travel and wish to be known as an Arctic Dweller will wear it proudly on their clothing.
