Awllian

Awllian is a world shared by many different types of people, animals, plants, and Beasts. These are mystical creatures that, although might seem monstrous at first, share the abilities to think and feel with humans. A long time ago, a race of humanoid woman warriors called the Panc lived here, and were respected and taken as the rulers of the land. They knew something that only the Beasts knew: how to do magic, and proceeded to teach it to humans. However, before they could master this power to it’s full potential, the Panc disappeared from the land. Without them to keep the peace, as they were respected by humans and Beasts alike, conflict started to rise among the races. Humans, in their arrogance and fear, saw the other party as nothing but mere animals, and envied their connection to the world itself, as if they were reminiscent of the Panc, the race that was once superior to them. This animosity lasted for an era, until the Keepers were formed. These were humans and beasts who were able to form a bond with each other, just as if they shared a soul. They acted as mediators between the races, and the human ones were so prominent in their cultures that soon they started to be an authority among human kingdoms, and acted as lords, scholars, judges and peacekeepers. And so the Second Era passed, a time of peace and prosperity. However, dark forces started to gather in a small northern temple. A woman whose name was long forgotten, and is now only named as the Dark Sorceress, envied the Beasts ability to control magic without having to perform the rituals and say the words that limited humans in this practice. She dived into forbidden curses and spells that messed with immortality, and death, and other rejected practices. She wanted power, and there was no way to stop her. She gathered an army of undead and rogue mages with darkened hearts, and when the Keepers finally realized the threat they were facing, one of her goals was already achieved: the Dark sorceress had become immortal. In an effort to stop her, human mages, worked day and night to find a way to defeat her, and when they did, she did not went down alone: with her final breath, she casted a curse that killed every Beast in the battle field, leaving the human Keepers to die or to go mad. The human kingdoms were left shattered, without Keepers to protect them, and a men who once was their friend picked the loose threads and proclaimed himself Emperor, and he prosecuted any left Keeper, as they only posed threats to his power. A small group of resistants formed a little kingdom in the southwest, a safe spot for any survivors, but it was too late: all Beasts had been killed or fled from Awllian, and there were none left.
