Sivistr Trebuchet

This beast of a machine could throw a house! Shall I demonstrate?
— Stoltur Hammerthrow

Overview

Perhaps the largest siege engine of its kind on the Quassus Continent. The Kingdom of Vhara is deploying several of these incredibly large engines across the Frosthammer Wall in preparation for an invasion from the Kingdom of Helia.   Many argue that Sivistrs are not so much a practical solution to warding off Helia's legions as they are meant to be a deterrent. It takes some time to load and fire a trebuchet. Therefore, the argument goes, Vhara will have to rely on other parts of their defense to successfully ward of an invasion and that the trebuchets are really for show. While there is a lot already known about these siege engines, there is also a lot that isn't known. The Frosthammers have been very careful to keep some aspects of their defense plan a secret and it seems there are several secrets about the Sivistrs that will not be revealed until the fighting begins.

Size

This trebuchet ranges from 120-140 meters in height (394ft - 460ft) when fully assembled. It takes as many as 40 wagons to transport each Sivistr.

Range

The Svistr Trebuchet is capable of throwing projectiles at up to 400 yards (365 meters).

Projectiles

The Sivistr is being prepared to fire a variety of projectiles including solid rocks and hollow vessels filled with flammable oil. Rumor has it that Vhara is preparing several kinds of magically enchanted projectiles that could make each shot affect a wider area with deadlier effects.

Note(s) from the Archivists:

What if Vhara made these for an eventual counterstrike? - Archivist Edward   They would have to survive the invasion first. Only Lunaria was able to thwart a Helian invasion thus far. - Archivist Savitri   What if the Frosthammers decide to go on the offensive before Helia does? - Archivist Edward   That would be a twist, and it would have to happen quickly. So far, they seem to have adopted an entirely defensive stance. - Archivist Savitri
