Magic Pangolins
Few kinds of plate armor can match the toughness of the scales of the Pangolin.
Overview
As with many creatures that roam Awldor, the pangolin species has undoubtedly underwent several changes as a result of the release of magical energies during the Great Collapse. A brief record of the pangolin by The Ancient Order, what can be recovered and translated, indicates that the pangolin was a relatively harmless animal that was on the verge of extinction. Today, pangolins are now a somewhat common sight in a variety of biomes: Savanna, tropical forests, grasslands, and even mountains. Moreover, several varieties of pangolins are imbued with particular magical abilities. Pangolins can be best described as a cross between an armadillo and an anteater. Unlike the armadillo, the pangolin's armor is made up of many scales.Tornado Pangolin
When threatened, this Pangolin will roll into a ball, as expected, and then proceed to turn into a small tornado that will destroy most things caught in its path.Blizzard Pangolin
When startled, this creature will unleash a flurry of snow and wind as part of rolling into a ball. Fortunately for anyone nearby, the pangolin remains stationary while in a blizzard state. Some have taken advantage of this response to construct summer snow-figures.Teleporting Pangolin
This creature will roll into a ball first, and then teleport to some random point elsewhere. This is effective in frustrating predators.Shocking Pangolin
When this specific variety of Pangolin is startled, the creature rolls into a ball and electrifies a small area for the duration of its duress.Slowing Pangolin
When threatened, this pangolin will slow time in its immediate vicinity as it balls up. The pangolin itself remains unaffected and will use its newfound advantaged to roll away from danger.Non-magical Pangolins:
- Rolling Pangolin
- Grease Pangolin
- Spiked Pangolin
- Immovable Pangolin
Magic Fields
The abilities of a magic pangolin is comparable to the occurrence of Magic Fields.Note(s) from the Archivists:
I've seen one of these. They're kinda cute! - Archivist Enna Me too. Though the caravan I was a part of made the mistake of starting it and the next thing I knew I was a mile or so from the road. - Archivist Bob IronrockRemove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
