East Company

Overview

The East Company found itself in both an unusual and dangerous position in its early years. While the company could trade among the citizens of what would become the Kingdom of Vhara, resource acquisition turned out to be a particular challenge. The geologically unstable Valjeta Continental Island, the easternmost of the continental islands of Quassus, meant that while plenty of rare and valuable materials could be had it was a challenge to extract them. East Company persevered however, and have developed a proven system of acquiring and then selling crystals of a most curious sort.   East Company is currently lead by Grybek Broadhammer, whose family has directed the guild's activities after successfully removing Greenpath family from the position.

 

Company Founder

  East Company was founded by Dishant Greenpath, along with his brothers who each founded the other three cardinal companies. The entire venture began on a bet between the four brothers on which direction would be the most profitable. The drive to win this bet ultimately sprung four of the largest guilds on the continent.

 

"Cardinal Specialty" - Curious Crystals

Magic Crystals are the thing most magic practitioners desire, and the crystals are something East Company can provide. Others can also make use of rare and valuable crystals in non-magical applications, and so their expensive tastes are satisfied by East Company's offerings.

 

Crystal Farms

Having the capability to successfully find and harvest crystals that grow on the Valjeta continental island was the unique selling point (USP) for East Company since its inception. But as time moves on so does the means of a guild's success. For the East Company, the evolution of their USP lies is in the ability to grow curious crystals. The guild believes that if they can grow crystals with efficiency then there would be no need to send expensive and risky expeditions to Valjeta to obtain the crystals they need. In addition, if the guild could grow crystals then they could conceivably grow as much as they desire. Another reason that impels East Company to pursue the capability to grow crystals is due to competition. Other guilds slowly and surely have learned to execute crystal harvesting expeditions to Valjeta with increasing success. The Mabara Guild in particular desire to sell their own curious crystals.
