Overview

Decima Shieldheart was the hero of the Battle of the Fractured Coast. She used her bronze shield tactically to hold the line while breaking the enemy's. Decima received honors for her bravery and success during the battle.
She disappeared some time after the battle for reasons that remain unknown to this day. She could have seen enough of battle. Perhaps there was a personal matter that was more important to her than continuing her service to the Lunarian Army. A rumor says she still serves Lunaria but in secret.

Decima's Bronze Shield

While there are many kinds of shields seen on the field of battle, Decima's is still a notable piece of equipment. To many who wrote down their observations in journals, Decima's shield was an old item. It could have been up to a thousand years old, judging by its bronze construction. Bronze as a material is not as strong as iron much less steel. However, during the battle of the Fractured Coast no steel sword could break it. It also appeared to ward off magics. Whoever made the shield must have enchanted it or it has a very unusual but effective construction. Decima used the shield to great effect in the field of battle. It is said that she used the shield to break enemy formations with a powerful shove more than once.
The shield had some designed engraved into its surface, but what it was had been worn down by years and years of use.

Decima's Past

More intriguing than leaving the Lunarian Army is how she joined up in the first place. Available evidence suggest she arrived in Lunaria from the northern regions of the Continental Island of Dammerung, which is many miles from the Continental Island of Lluvia where the Queendom of Lunaria resides.
Decima successfully joined Lunaria's army through earning a commander's favor by helping to protect a couple of soldiers from a bandit ambush and other tasks. She was already carrying her sword and shield which she was modestly proficient in at the time. She refused to change her shield for anything the Lunarian Army tried to issue to her.
Decima also brought with her other items that relate to her past, and all she guarded from others. One was a vial of Elvish design filled with a liquid. Another was a bronze pendant of Dwarvish make. Fellow soldiers who knew her said that she would silently reminisces about her past when holding these items. When pressed to tell her past, she only ever gave vague generalities. Perhaps these items played some role in her disappearance some time after the Battle of the Fractured Coast.
