Day of Feasts

Gluttony is something to avoid, yes. Sometimes, you just need to eat a lot of food.
— Vesna Mercury, Messenger for Hire

Overview

A day of feasting is something almost everyone on the Quassus Continent has partaken in during the quiet years immediately after the great collapse. It is only recently that many have begun to agree upon a specific date in which to celebrate the bounties of a hard-earned harvest. By agreeing upon a specific day with which to host the celebration, the various peoples across the continent can better coordinate trade activity to maximize the amount of food on any given table. At least that's what the merchants claim. The result is an almost universal recognition of the Day of Feasts, a time when one eats to their heart's content.

What Kind of Food is Served?

All the food. If it can be eaten, you can find it during the festival. Bread, vegetables, fruits, berries, even confections (desserts). As far as drinks go: juices, beer, and wine are common items. The main purpose of the event is to eat after all. The only limitation is whatever could be grown and made during the year.

Festivities

What kind of celebration involving food is complete without some activities to build up an appetite as well as to ease one into sleep after feast? As part of the Day of Feasts, many host or otherwise organizes several activities meant for the enjoyment of all. Dancing, singing, and talent shows are common activities. Among the nobility and aristocracy, fencing, mount racing, and elaborate plays are often preferred.
