Ärkvel Uprising of 1020AGC

It was a moment in time where the Silver City had become the Crimson City.
— Alicia Ravenwood, Historian

Overview

It can be a surprising thing to learn that the secretive and mostly peaceful Queendom of Lunaria has had its own bloody chapters. One is the Ärkvel Uprising of 905AGC in the Silver City of Luna.   The uprising of 1020 was instigated by the Ärkvels who believed Lunaria had not been active enough with its army. That the Queendom had been too idle to successfully defend itself. That Lunaria, to ensure its own future, needed to take the fight to the Kingdom of Helia before the Kingdom could launch a campaign on their own timetable.   And so the Ärkvels gathered many sympathetic to their cause and attempted to seize control of the Palace of Stars and the nearby castle. The attempt failed, but not until after the city had been stained with the blood of many. The uprising was ultimately unsuccessful, and Lunaria continued its policies if with a bit more vigilance.

Support from Xeta

There are reasons to believe that the Ärkvels had support from the Xeta Magocracy. Xetans are a society that values the magic arts much as the Lunarians do if not more so. Where they differ is in the kinds of magic practiced and how they are used. In Xeta necromancy is embraced whereas in Lunaria it is outlawed. Lunarians would rather use magic to focus on self-development and contemplation wherease the Xetans would use magic in whatever way would advance their interests against others.

Note(s) from the Archivists:

I never knew that the Silver City had seen bloodshed. I suppose it is the nature of our post collapse world that few things are spared from violence. - Archivist Enna
