Steel Square Frame, Avoidence Movement

Although most of the population is entranced that the powers of gems contribute to their lives, others are highly opposed to them. They view them as dangerous and unnatural and advocate for the boycotting of all stones. While they are mainly met with derision and are unpopular, most people just let them be as they seem harmless.

The Avoidance movement members are unashamed of their beliefs and show solidarity and support by displaying empty frames of buildings and wear them amulets. Despite seeming harmless, certain sectors of the movement can be extremely violent, raiding jewelry stones and crushing stones, leaving frames behind them.

There is currently a ten foot high steel frame that has been erected just outside Origin. Since Origin has seen very few dragons, some believe that the symbol is warning them off and protecting them from the beasts.

Manufacturing process

Some smithies often produce these in bulk and distribute them for a nominal fee. However, most smithies refuse to create these as they are opposed to the movement as they have a large stake in the jewelry industry for their setting and metalwork.

Significance

The iron frame is a symbol of a setting with no jewel. They are used as a symbol of solidarity for members of the Avoidance movement. It is meant to represent their rejection of gemstones and the powers of the stones. The movement believes that these stones are not natural and detrimental to mankind. They are often displayed in the windows of homes, hung outside of businesses, of worn on amulets.
