Marjoko City Lord's Hall

In a city composed almost entirely of illusions, the City Lord's Hall was the only material building that lived up to the splendor of the illusions around it. Used by the city lord Ivan Piaff, the building acted as his house and as a place to hold meetings and banquets amongst high-profile merchants and lords. However, this magnificent building was destroyed the night that a powerful beast came to the city to kill Lord Piaff and end his schemes.

Purpose / Function

The building was primarily built as a place for the city lord to stay. Having amassed his wealth through what his victims brought with them to trade in the city, Piaff was not at all hesitant to splurge some of it for his own comfort. As the city grew and more relations with the wealthy and powerful were made, Piaff began to host large banquets and parties to attract more and more victims. It was during one such party that the building was destroyed.

Architecture

No resources were spared in the creation of this building, with beautiful red stonework, dark grey shingles, and elaborate golden trim and decorations. The walls were tall, the ceilings vaulted, and many large, arched windows that brought plenty of natural light into the building. The main hall featured a full glass ceiling and many plants dotted around the room. The tile work on the floors was intricate and the gilding on the walls a bit gaudy, full of a nouveau riche feel.

History

Constructed in 1103 as the Lord's residence, the building wasn't as extravagant as it was at its time of destruction. It was far more humble and homely. But as the city grew and the riches accumulated, so to did the building. By 1120 it was a sight to see and was able to make even kings jealous of Piaff. Unfortunately, this beauty was destroyed by a powerful beast in 1142, only a shell of its former self surviving the destruction.
