Brandeth

Miss Brandeth Hilllost

Hill Dwarf Nature Cleric

Story

Brandeth realised early on that she was the odd one out in the family. She lacked the physical strength that makes such good craftsmen of her people. She frustrated her family to no end with her daydreaming and just didn’t seem able to be what they expected from her. This made her feel very lonely, but she never held it against her family. It did make her pull away from them a little – this is when she started going out into the fields. She heard about the goddess Chauntea and immediately loved her. She started thanking Chauntea every day and soon she felt the presence of Chauntea when she spoke to her.   She started confiding in Chauntea on a more personal level and was rewarded by receiving Chauntea’s blessing and becoming a cleric. Finally feeling accepted by someone, Brandeth decided to devote her life to Chauntea and her domains. She left the dwarf community to go into nature and learn from Chauntea’s teachings, becoming a hermit. Chauntea taught her how to cultivate plants and Brandeth tried to leave behind a little bit of Chauntea’s teachings everywhere she went.   During her life in nature, she came across a valuable legendary object under Chauntea’s protection: an emerald rumoured to have come from Chauntea's own scythe, which would bring fertility to any fields its keeper decides on. She was charged with the mission to guard it and be its keeper by Chauntea, who was content that it was Brandeth who had found the emerald and saw it as a sign. However, a group of Sylvanites were of the opinion that Brandeth stole a valuable artefact and decided to hunt her down. When they find the object’s trail, Brandeth leaves for a populated area to escape them.   Brandeth doesn’t know where she should go, initially, but she runs into a group of fellow dwarves who are heading for Neverwinter. Feeling that Neverwinter is as good a place as any, she joins them. When the necromancer strikes and someone she travelled with gets severely hurt, she decides to use her powers to remove the threat and volunteers as one of the fighters standing up against Vesharoon.

Personality

Brandeth is a kind and gentle creature, who cares about people and about the world as a whole. She adores her goddess, Chauntea, and is excited to make new friends. She has a strong set of morals and if someone does not live up to them, she can get very upset very quickly. However, her anger passes very quickly and she forgets about it as soon as it does. She can be a bit awkward, since she has lived on her own for 16 years, but is generally a pleasant and nice person to be around.

Appearance

Brandeth is 4"11, just your regular dwarf, with warm brown eyes, tan skin and chestnut hair. She has very small, soft features for a dwarf and she isn't as buff as they usually are, instead just being a little rotund. She wears chain mail underneath her vestments and has a big ornamental belt buckle on her stomach with the sign of Chauntea which she uses as her spellcasting focus. Usually, her hair is up in a high ponytail.
