Marnmouth

Marnmouth is a small costal village dedicated to fishing, it is situated in Vorey, Kingdom of Spakov. It is in the soft slopes of a mount and has access to a bay with natural protection of the elements.
The village is made up mostly of fishermen and farmers, along with their families. It has a temple and a famous restaurant known for its amazing grilled cuttlefish with ink and side of bread with vegetable spread.

Demographics

According to a recent census by the Bishop, Marnmouth has 420 adults of which most are non-benders and are either fishermen or farmers. There are around 50 firebenders in the village and six earthbenders, one single family. Most of the population lives in or below poverty line however some shopkeepers and merchants are considered middle class.

Government

Since the founding of the Temple the village has seen the Priest who rules it as also the ruler of the village, giving him the taxes to keep and tributes for the Dragons. Due to the size there is no formal government, such as mayor or police or any official state employee.

Industry & Trade

The major import of Marnmouth is wood for ship building and the tools to follow, also large amphoras to preserve the pickled vegetables. However they do have a market and import, like most villages, a bit of everything. In terms of exports the major are fish (salted or fresh), pickled vegetables and grains. This is due to the large fishermen community and to the vast amount of adjacent farms.

Infrastructure

The village has around 120 buildings, most of it are the residences of the villagers, but there are some warehouses and other buildings including a: Harbor; Market; Temple; Watermill; North-South Road; Small Shipyard; and most famous Palo's' Grilled Fish Hut.

Assets

The city has a large fleet of fishing ships and considerable amount of salted fish, pickled vegetables and grains stored in warehouses. The only structure considered to have valuables is the temple.

Guilds and Factions

The only guild within the village is that of the fishermen and exists as a form to make sure everyone profits and isn't left to starve. They decide and rule on who goes fishing when and where so as to make sure no place is over fished and that every night there is a correct amount of fishermen out. The catches are brought back and stored in a comunal warehouse. At the end of the month every fishermen receives his lay, and every quarter they may request a re-appreciation of the lay.

History

The village is not an old one and was initially settled by fishermen of nearby villages so that they could better take usage of that part of the coast. It slowly grew and started to have farms surrounding it too. About 40 odd years ago a priest started a temple in the village and with the offerings invested in building a proper market, warehouses etc. This led to a growth in size and quality within the village.

Architecture

Most houses are single or double floored. Made of wood and simple in aspect, to the point some may be called huts. The warehouses are larger, equivalent to three stories and with much sturdier foundations. The temple is in classical Spakovian style made of red stone.

Geography

The village is set in the shoreside of a slight slope. it has no woods near it and all lands surrounding it as far as the eye can see are either farms or wild grass. On the far east a mount can be seen. It has ample access to the Ocean.

Natural Resources

The main resources are the vast coastline with its fish and the soft hill that it is on, which is made of very fertile land for grains.
