Forsworn

Those who are cast out from their people rarely last long on Avaria. Whether to the deadly wildlife or the harsh terrain, exile is seen by many civilisations as a death sentence. Those that do survive will often band together for protection and form small tribes and communities. Usually, these groups lurk on the edges of civilisation, raiding and pillaging where they can to survive while avoiding the deep wilds. There are some however that by skill, knowledge or fate can inspire the other exiles to forge their path and find new land to settle.
Most of these expeditions are quickly lost to natural dangers but those who can cling to survival long enough to make a home for themselves are known as the Forsworn, and they are to be rightly feared. Each founding member of a Forsworn tribe has endured exile and the dangers of the wild. These conditions breed hardy people and strong communities for any weakness could spell doom for the entire tribe. A Forsworn tribe will often be comprised of several species. It is not uncommon to find cultural enemies such as Humans, Dro'kari & Tieflings working together to survive.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Forsworn are often made up of several cultures who share and combine languages. They mostly understand the common tongue but over generations will develop their own dialect.

Shared customary codes and values

Though the forsworn tribes are made up of criminal and worse those who survive value loyalty to the tribe. They realise that should they be weakened from within the wilds would tear them apart.

Common Etiquette rules

The forsworn are a culture of raiders and survivors, they understand life is short and brutal. They do not waste time on things that can be done today and speak plainly and directly.

Common Dress code

Function over form. Furs, leathers and pelts. Fabric if it can be produced or stolen. Forsworn rarely use mail or plate as it is difficult to make and repair in the wild.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Strength and skill are valued above all in a Forsworn tribe. Healthy and capable individuals are attractive.

Gender Ideals

All genders who can hunt, raid and provide for the tribe are accepted. Individuals are to be protected while bearing children but expected to carry their own weight throughout. There is no tolerance for weakness.

Courtship Ideals

The strongest and fittest mate for the good of the tribe.

Relationship Ideals

Forsworn see the world as being against them and so form close bonds with each other. A good partner, whether in battle or for mating must be capable and independent but reliable to have each others back.
