Arcadence Condition in Avaria | World Anvil

Arcadence

In order to better hunt rogue mages and those who would seek to possess them, The Justicars take a fragment of wild magic into themselves in a ceremony known as the Rigors of Arcadence.   The aspirant drinks deep of a tea infused with Avarite shards and then must pass through several grueling tests. if successful they gain a measure of resistance to arcane mana and are able to better hunt magic users.   This is not without a price, each Justicar who completes the infusion now sees the world in a blend of the mundane and arcane. They become colourblind and must live a life of constant disciple or risk falling to arcane corruption and are forbidden to bear children to prevent this risk from being spread.   Justicars with Arcadence can also never retire in peace for they will forevermore be targetted by demons and those who now fear what they have become.
