The Collector

Lady Jelena Marelic (a.k.a. The Collector, The Mediator)

The collector is a woman who lives in a house in the Waterside district of Rholea. Unlike most people in the district, she is not Rholean. She earns a living using her rare ability to collect memories from others, permanently removing them and storing them in a brass coin. The unmarked coin will gain a marking of the stored memory after this process. Most of her clients are people who have gone through a bad experience and decided that rather than attempting to drink to forget their problems, they would rather have a more permanent solution. The collector is famous in Rholea, though only discussed in whispers, for no one wants to be known to have visited the collector, it speaks of a lack of courage to deal with your problems.

The collectors main interest is in the memories, as such she can be persuaded to remove a memory for free, or even give payment, should the memory be interesting enough to her. Most people don't have memories interesting enough to warrant such a treatment, though many times throughout the years travelers have been sought out by her employees because of rumors that have caught her interest. She has extensive knowledge on almost any matter and is willing to share to get those precious memories.

Personal history

Jalena grew up in the desert of Korna, in an impoverished clan. At a young age she was noted to be naive, but she commited to whatever task she set herself to. When she recieved her awakening, she started hearing voices in her head. Her clan was convinced she was crazy, as such things were unheard of, not even the gods did such a thing, annd these voiced were clearly not coming from the gods. As an outcast from her clan life was hard and she soon left Korna for places unknown to her. She found herself listening to the voices and they led her to a magic unlike anything she knew of. Her naivety long since lost she quickly realised the source of the voices in her head, Myrrad.
As a priest of Myrrad, she went in persuit of power. She considered political power too unstable, and riches too temporary. Magic and knowledge are her powersources of choice. Myrrad was happy to oblidge. Over the course of two decades, Myrrad taught her magic, before introducing her to its home plane. At a distinct advantage compared to normal humans due to her familiarity with its magic, she managed to stay mostly sane in the five seconds she was there. Several years and various trips to the world where time doesn't organize itself she set out once again. This time seeking answers to The greatest secret. Her whereabouts during this time is shrouded is even more mystery as the rest of her history, though she shows up in the writings of several other seekers of the time. Most people don't realise it, but many seekers know the collector as the one who found the answer, but refuses to share it.
Since then she settled in Rholea.
