Ga'lu - Geological Territory 8

From the Diary of Shur'Tethun, Explorer of The Past Age   From the slope of the mountain the treeline seemed...confusing. Was it near or far? A bright green canopy concealing the land beneath as far as the eye can see. A large metal rod piercing the canopy some distance in. A road leading the mountain to the treeline. I realized four suns later after descending that it was the size of trees that deceived me. Taller than any building we've created. When I finally reach the tree line I observed the ancient script embossed on a metal plate, the tree growing around it over the centuries: Geological Territory 8.

Geography

Ga'lu, formerly known as Geological Territory 8, is a forest of staggering proportion. It spans countless miles from a mountain range to what can be assumed is a coastline. The land is primarily flat.

Fauna & Flora

Ga'lu is home to a wide variety of plant and creature. The dominant type of tree is roughly 1000 feet tall, and hundreds of feet around, with white bark and bright green foliage that only emerges at the canopy level. Other types of trees and plants fill the gaps between these gigantic trees, many sharing the bright grey or white bark. While the ground between trees is not teeming with plant life, the canopies swell with vines that connect the massive trees, supporting a small ecosystem on their own.

Most of the fauna the on Ga'lu's ground level are insects and small mammals that make homes in the emerging roots and bushes. The few explorers that have ventured this far from Home have claimed seeing larger forms making leaps from tree to tree, but have not interacted with them.

Natural Resources

Ga'lu remains largely untouched due to how remote from Home it is. However, the bark from the massive trees is extremely tough, and when appropriately stripped and treated, has properties similar to steel.   Some of the strange berries from the bushes that grow around the trees are said to have wide and varying properties from being poison to hallucinogenic, but little formal study has ever been conducted.
