When I was a little girl, I always asked my mother if she ever wondered how life would function out in space. How exactly we as a people would live our everyday lives. Or what people we act as a progenitor to will do for a living. Of course I didn't say it in such an articulated fashion but the question was still there. She always told me that's why she thought I'd make a perfect scientist. That other people always wondered too big for the future, they think of grand and epic quests that effect the whole universe. Of eldritch monstrosities who don't care about the insignificance of all life. But she had never known a single person besides from who asked how a person on a planet very far away from our own goes about his day to day life and how he got his breakfast every day. Now that I'm at the edge of my own life, on a planet so far away from my home in an attempt to seek freedom. I ask myself those same questions for the life me and my team have created.    Professor Marilyn Lumen
Autoheart is a world where the majority of intelligent life take the form of Constructs; various kinds of mechanical, artificial species created by a group of six humans seeking to live and perfect their scientific studies without the watchful eye of a tyrannical government. They landed on a planet to call their own, one filled with vibrant jungles, large canyons and massive areas of hollow space that dwarfed the size of some continents. It was a place of peace, tranquility, and very little biological life. A perfect place to live, to experiment and eventually to cultivate life itself. Even if it wasn't biological.   Each group of Construct was made from the hobbies and interests of the six scientists. Doctor Uhrwerk created Constructs based on his fascination with mechanical antiquity of clockwork processes, who would become known as the Wyrk in his name. Professor Akira Faraday made Constructs who's entire body consisted of a single piece of wire carrying an electrical current named the Waia. The Cros Twins only managed to create one Construct before they passed on, a construct based on gramophones and sound recording technology. Doctor Le Prince created Constructs based on his enjoyment of old fashioned motion picture machines and image projection. Calling them the Symbole.   Then there was Professor Lumen, who in comparison created a group of Constructs who had the head of lamps, and as such she decided that their name would simply be the Lamp. All these constructs lived on this planet for many years, but as time moved on, the Makers that these artificial beings had depended on for so long began to be taken by the sands of time. Now, they will soon be on their own, and no one is really sure how they will continue living their day to day lives.   But even then, perhaps this is their test. That even in the face of pure independence of human contact, they can prove that their automated hearts beat just as much as biological ones.
