The Aurora

The elf had sat down on the edge of the cliff to watch the sunset, but had become side tracked when the moon finally began rising in the crisp, cold air.

The Aurora, they called it, swirling slowly into view, greens and blues and purples and reds, far above. It brought the magic of every day life with it, they said- A glimpse into the world before the humans, or the elves, or any other physical being existed. 

The elf sighed, and laid down to listen to the hum of magic deep in his bones

Manifestation

The Aurora appears much like the aurora borealis in our world- ribbons of color in the sky. It leans into blue and purple most often, but occasionally green. Many people take red as a bad omen- that something powerful is displeased.

Localization

The Aurora appears all across this world, only the dustings of it visible during the day, but in full force on clear nights.
