Nil Errassa

The first words written about Nil Errassa come from the Liberation Age, where it was said to be a realm of rolling hills and sweeping grain. It was a paradise, caressed by soft wind, warmed by a loving sun, scented with honeysuckle and vinemint. There once were three cities in the Realm that were golden with wealth and bursting with art. They were meticulously crafted, and ideal place for Dragons to raise their slaves and treat them with loving care.   Then the war came to Nil Errassa.   The Liberation Age was cruel to the Paradise of Wheatlands. Magic from Lightkind burned down the grasses and cities. Drakefire from the Dragons whittled the land into a smoking ruin. Soon dust and ash replaced sun and sky, gentle breezes turned to roaring storms and the life of the land gave way.   The Razing of the Errassa was done, according to legend, in one single year. Before the people of the three cities could find a way to escape, the storms came for them. Now, the three cities are lost ruins, where pocked and marked statuary creates a grim garden of life frozen in collapsed panic. The Sleeping Dead huddle their children, cry to the gods, tuck their faces in their wings, and beg for a path to salvation that was never allowed. Those who visit the three cities, their names now lost to time, never come away fully themselves, as the gargantuan visage of loss clips a little soul away from all who land.
