Ogulla Goddess of Prophecy, Fate and Seers

The First Seer

Written by FirethornDragon

Goddess of Prophecy, Fate and Seers Ogulla (a.k.a. The String of Fate)

Ogulla is one of the oldest goddesses and is said to have visited Aurin more than once in hidden disguises to review the fates and visions she has predicted. She is worshipped by seers and feared by those who do not understand her powers. Many believe that she has a connection to the Lord of Darkness. But those who know the old stories and are believers according to the Old Gods know that Ogulla is neither good nor evil. Her gift and curse is to see the future, present and past. Many have tried to get the Goddess to answer everyone's fates—exceedingly naïve people and other races down in Aurin.
Hello, mortal, I have been waiting for you. I already know what you want to ask from me. My only question is, are you ready to answer?
The Goddess doesn't like it when someone tries to trick her. It is an insult to her intelligence and also to her powers and gifts. She can see everything, every detail of fate. But that does not mean that it cannot change. Like everything else, the future is always in motion, but there are some things you can't stop from happening.   Ogulla says to show up in seers' dreams when something big is about to happen. Something that you can't stop from happening, like wars, death, or when you need to be prepared for the unknown. It is said that if you get the same vision repeatedly, it is a sign from the Goddess herself. And you are wise not to ignore it.   The Goddess herself chooses whom she grants the power to see. She always chooses someone she knows can handle the powers and, hopefully, will use them for good.   Because some people don't understand her powers or fear them, many people fear seers. That is why seers are very rare in Aurin. It is because they had to hide their powers. After all, no one—rarely no one—trusts a seer. It is because they think powers have something to do with dark magic, especially the Lord of Darkness. Even though most people fear her, they use her name as a curse word or when they are choked, especially melends.   That is why the Goddess is picky about who she gives her gifts to. She gives them to someone she thinks can handle them. Ogulla knows that the ability to see everything can be a heavy burden.   But after living for thousands of years since the beginning of time, she had her heart broken, being put through an arranged marriage with a man who tried to flee from it and seeing her mortal people going through so much pain. She knows that only the strongest of the strongest can handle her powers. Ogulla's gift is passed down from mother to daughter. But sometimes, she cannot even stop her powers from being passed down to someone if fate has already chosen them. People's fates are too strong for her to stop or change them.
The visions are neither a gift nor an It'se. It's just the way it is. People believe what they want anyway, and if they want to see me as a villain, that is what I am in their eyes, even if that is not the truth.
