Ermusehn
"Today, we are ending this Ermusehn fuckhead. This thing has no interest in knowledge, I know it. It has a personal agenda, and if we don't stop it, it will surely be the end of us all one day!" - rogue Bannergrip captain's last recorded words before trekking into Musihn Peak with the goal of ending the Beholder Ermusehn's life. He never made it back to base
Summary
The Musihn Peak has since days of old been known as a place prowling with all sorts of monsters and horrors. The aberratic being now known as a Beholder named Ermusehn however, will have to take the cake for being surrounded by the most horrifying of tales.
The details of how this creature came to be, and why it chose Musihn Peak as its domain, are a mystery to this day. The first documentations go back to autumn of the year 901 P.C. A logger from the town of Thomiur, located near the East of the foot of the mountain, returned home without wood, without his tools, and without his collegues, but with a shaky story. He claimed to have seen a monster, which killed by looking at you. Locals shrugged it off as being some kind of Basilisk like creature, and ran off with axes and pitchforks to take it down.
These locals never returned. The before mentioned logger, became seriousely mentally ill. The man had become paranoid, had frequent seizures, and his speach worsened by the day. He was locked up in Thomiur's hospital's psych ward.
Not too long after, a Bannergrip squadron was called in from the city of Ergon to investigate the case. The experienced Bannergrips quite quickly concluded that this was like no creature that was known to them at the time. The Bannergrips decided to set up a new Bannergrip branch to focus on the matter. This branch would be led by the brilliant, yet exotic Tabaxi researcher Straw Berry, a.k.a. "Stray". The branch was named A.E.F., for Abberation Exploration Force.
The A.E.F. made quite the discovery in these months. They researched the sites where people had claimed to have seen this aberratic creature. Reports on sightings were gathered, and eventually, the A.E.F. found something that could have resembled a lair.
About two years later, in the summer of 903 P.C., the A.E.F. and the creature formally met for the first time. Against all expectations, the creature set itself up quite friendly. It introduced itself by the name of Ermusehn, a Beholder. They were quite chatty and cooperative with the A.E.F., and Ermusehn and the organisation continued this friendly relationship for the next few years. This specific cooperation between Beholder and people is where most documentation on the species of Beholders that is known nowadays comes from.
Things were not meant to last however, inner conflict between the A.E.F. made quick work of destroying the friendly bond the two parties had. In the early winter of 907 P.C., Ermusehn was attacked by a rebelling group of Bannergrips. The Beholder did not take this lightly, and responded by setting their minions onto the Bannergrips.
The two parties would be trading blows until the spring of 915 P.C. During this period, the A.E.F. would be rebranded A.B.E.E.F., standing for Aberration Beholder Ermusehn Extermination Force. Former A.E.F.'s leader, Stray, resigned from the faction. She did not believe that the Beholder had truly evil intentions, and refused to be part of a task force that set out to kill the Beholder.
The last anyone has ever seen of Ermusehn, was when A.B.E.E.F. had invaded Ermusehn's lair, and had gotten very, very close to what they assumed was the center. Ermusehn had been driven back to a corner. A large explosion was set off, and the lair caved in. Many folks from the A.B.E.E.F. and other Bannergrip branches were buried underneath the rubble. Ermusehn has not been seen since, nor has their body been found.
For the past nine years, most people have gotten to believe that Ermusehn was gone for good. A.B.E.E.F. still exists, albeit a small branch within the Bannergrips nowadays. Stray has gotten back to lead the branch two years ago, believing she could change the perception of Ermusehn withing the branch, and return it to a faction of research. The branch mainly focuses on following leads that it might have missed in the rash decisions the body had made back in the times of battle. What happened to Ermusehn, is a mystery to this day.
Even though Ermusehn's own location and wellbeing are a mystery, several lesser Beholders born from Ermusehn's dreams have been found in the past few years all across Auricaana.
