Starspire Hold
The grandest and oldest library in the Westlands, and one of the oldest libraries in the known continents of aurendil.
The expansive halls withing this centuries old structure holds enough books, scrolls and tomes to make even Tower of Cognus or the Hall of the mages consortium look like the private collection of a village scholar.
Said to have been founded sometime in the 21st century, long before the Westlands had been brought together under Erandul the Uniter in 2620. From its humble origins of Delvar Starspire, a lone scholar trying to gather the knowledge of the realm to protect it from time. The Starspire Hold has stod the test of time and its order of sages known as the Keepers make sure the tomes are organised and maintains both the structure itself and the works that reside within.
To enter the library you must enter via the outer gatehouse to the north as it is the only path that connects the peninsula to the mainland and the rest of westlands. The gate hold a pair of massive metal doors that have been warded against any assault or siege. During daytime one of these gates stay open enough to allow visitors to enter into the bailey and the Hall of Commons. Additionally there is the Spire of Travel, which serves as the only way to transport into the grounds of the Starspire Hold. It it detached from the rest of the building and leads only into the bailey.
As the Starspire Hold was founded to serve as a bastion of knowledge and learning, the hold does allow outsiders to partake in some of its collection, under the watchful eyes of the Keepers. To gain entry, visitors must bring a donation to the collection that the library does not already have, after which visitors will gain access to the Hall of Commons, where there are study halls and quarters for visitors along with the tomes that are open to public.
No books can be brought outside but must be studied within the halls of the library, and to access the inner halls of the hold, visitors must gain approval from a High Keeper or above. After which the visitor will be handed a Seal of Access that the Guardian of the Inner Sanctum will read and approve before visitors are allowed entry.
Within the Inner Sanctum it is said that there are tomes and scrolls related to any subject under the sun. But getting access is hard and some scholars wait their entire lives before gaining access in their final years.
