Twitterpated Honeybadger

Famed for its danger sense, the Twitterpated Honeybadger, all 20 kilos of angry mustelid in a male specimen, is truly a sight to behold.   Its thick skin, a clever adaptation to the bees it feeds on, protects it from receiving what could be lethal doses of venom, while its aggressivity, territorialism, 10cm long claws capable of splitting a man from groin to gizzard and sharp teeth, mean it's unlikely to be bothered, even by mid-sized bears.   Its stark colouring, black, but with a white stripe along the back, also warns other creatures to stay away, for like its distant cousin, the skunk, it is capable of spraying a noxious liquid, whose most pestilential smell would gag a full-grown elk.

"Hold, Candice, let's not go that way."   "What's that Sylvio? That little thing won't stop Cloudstepper!"   "If it sprays you, you'll wish you were dead, and if it decides to fight, it'd probably kill Cloudstepper if it got angry enough. Trust me, this beast is holy to Wheelin. It makes its own law, where it walks, but knows enough of the natural law of the universe to abide by fate's decrees. Besides, it is holy to Wheelin, don't make my patron angry, where you don't need to, our patrons are allies, remember?"   "Hmph, can something that small really hurt Cloudstepper?"   "It's tall enough to reach its belly, but it'd do more damage, slicing a tendon, or a knee. And thanks to its stink, even a bear will think twice about tangling with one, and this is a big one."   "A bear's ten times the weight!"   "Yes, but only four times the height, its muscles are whipcord, its claws are almost as long as the bear's and it has chemical and supernatural protection. If you look closely, you'll see the shadows pooling around it, if it chooses, it can become invisible."   "But they don't stay invisible?"   "They only become invisible when attacked by something they can't fend off by themselves, like say, a wolfpack, or when attacking a beehive. Strangest thing, really."   "You got something to add, Angie?"   "Only that we shouldn't mess with it, and it shouldn't mess with us. Sylvania and Wheeling both got enough black marks against me already. The strangest thing about it, is its name, why'd they call it Twitterpated, do you know, Elect of Wheelin?"   "Because when they... err, when they get in the mood, they're especially dangerous. Visible, angry, breaking anything breakable, tossing rocks at each other. You don't want to be where two of them meet with lust in their heart."

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

These do not reproduce in Mortaliti, and since they live forever in Totaliti, they are thought not to reproduce there.

Growth Rate & Stages

Only full-grown specimens are met in the wild.

Dietary Needs and Habits

A twitterpated honeybadger survives on honey, bee larvae and the organized thoughts that go into a well-crafted plan. For indeed, whatever lets it detect danger seems to strenghten it whenever danger does find it.

Behaviour

These are solitary creatures, although, should one meet a honeybadger of the opposite sex, some of the younger males(1-5%) try to mate, the male not caring much for consent, at all. The female's supernatural protection allows it to see it coming, and to teach the male a lesson, it does not usually need to be repeated.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Up to a minute before any attack, the extraplanar presence that sends a Twitterpated Honeybadger to the mortal lands can choose to warn the beast of any attack.   This takes the form of a three-dimensional 'vision' of the attack, akin to holograms of the attacker and itself. Even their own keen senses cannot detect one another when one 'pools the shadows' around itself, except in this manner(that is, predictively, they know from where they'll be attacked).
Scientific Name
Mellivora Umbris Tenebraum Nox
Origin/Ancestry
It's native to the wildlands of Totaliti, an outer plane of natural-based creatures.
Conservation Status
One appears in Mortaliti, the plane of mortals, whenever one of the agents of Wheelin sends it there. They do not properly belong to the ecosystem, and seemingly kill many thousands of bees each time they do. However, some sages surmise they're actually reclaiming the bees, working animals of order, and bringing them back to the Wildlands of Totaliti 'early'.
