Atox

Fifty years ago, a plague swept the world of Bramera, killing 4.5 billion people. The remaining 500 million were left in a world without structure. Governments dissolved, major cities fell, and the world descended into chaos. The continent Atox, somewhat removed from the rest of the world, was not untouched by the unrest. Factions rose up and took control of the capitol, where the majority of the world's nuclear weapons had been stored. Another 450 million died in the resulting war, almost entirely from the other continents. Those who didn't die initially are almost certainly dead now from the years of fallout.   Because the majority of nuclear weapons were on Atox, they remained largely untouched by the nuclear fallout, but parts of the continent are unsafe due to radiation - namely the areas near the capitol island and around large cities. Electricity is hard to come by, but cities on major bodies of water have very minimal access to it, and it's expensive to access. Abandoned cars are all throughout the world. Finding one that works can prove difficult.   It seems that those who launched the nuclear weapons died in the resulting war, so Atox has been as peaceful as it can be for the past 45 or so years. There has been little conflict between the cities, as most people are just focused on staying alive. Recently, people have been noticing an uptick in irradiated monsters roaming the uncivilized part of the world, and some have noticed strange purple lights glowing in abandoned suburbs at night.
