Cloratsu gestures

Area of use

Cloratsu gestures has been used in the village placed at the current location of the Source. Due to the stationary nature of its inventors, their unique way of communication did not spread out much.
People traveling to this place were usually leaving with various items or traded goods, not with learned language.

The past and its end.

The original users were very solitary and refused to move much away from their village. As such, over time, they devised a very unique way of communication, consisting of various slang and hand gestures. Thanks to the hardship in its understanding, few kings have shown interest in this communication method. The records indicate that they intended to incorporate it completely or partially for their military forces, rendering any possible spies useless for a long time.   The majority of Cloratsu gestures has been lost when The Cataclysm  hit the region. During the fall of the Source, the entire village disappeared and with it the farmers and their way of using the Cloratsu gestures.

Salvaged knowledge and estimated common practices

Little has been salvaged from the village itself, as it was obliterated by the Source. However, the many incomplete research notes from various kings linguists allowed for deciphering the key aspects of the Cloratsu gestures.   It appeared that the farmers communicated over mid-range distances via putting their arms and occasionally leg into a shape resembling the arms of the clock. The alphabet commonly known across the continent was then paired with the numbers on the common clock and depending on how one stationed their arms, the arms represented the specific letters and in the case of o the original farmers, even whole words.   The various gestures for common objects and words were known only among the villagers and were ignored by kings linguists. The linguists put the majority of their focus into the study of various moves and gestures, as they were more intriguing and allowed easier implementation for the military.   While the original use was not good enough for the military of the king due to its reliance on the commonly known alphabet, the concept itself was solid enough. The linguists then provided a cryptic enough alphabet, which was taught only to people trained in the use of this communication method.

Present use

While the Cloratsu gestures might have lost their original meanings, the methodic and ways to express oneself were repurposed. During present time, the Raider are often using their own variant of the Cloratsu gestures, often to quickly and silently communicate with the Atocites.   Due to its use over long range, there are only 8 direction for hands to prevent confusion and misinterpretation.
The directions are two vertical, two horizontal, and four diagonal.
The hands can be put in any direction leading to 16 combinations when stretched out, or 32 combinations when bend at elbow. These 32 combinations are enough for the present alphabet.   More combinations are reached through touching or pointing at various parts of body, resulting in possibility to encode whole words. While the alphabetical use of the Cloratsu gestures is common and widely spread, the word combinations are unique for each Atocite.
