Divine Being
A divine being is a (almost always) thinking entity that is able to collect the power of worship and mass belief and is able to transform that into life and power. All but Demigods are ageless and immortal, and most have existed before the creation of the Worlds themselves.
Types of Divine Beings
Not all divine beings create equally. Divine beings can be roughly ranked by status, here ordered from least to greatest. However, this is not always the case; power varies between individuals so that some of higher rank are weaker than others of lower rank and vice versa.Fragment
A Fragment is a broken-off "piece" of a slain divine being, surviving on either minimal local worship or residual stored belief. Most Fragments are leftover from the casualties of the God War, and survive as idols with minimal power of their own. Although Fragments may be pieces of deities and may be worshipped and even have clerics, they are not usually considered proper deities themselves. A Fragment may survive for a time in a severely weakened state on its own belief in itself, but will gradually diminish in power over aeons, and every miracle performed will drain its reserves further. When a Fragment's supply of power is exhausted, it is as dead as a divine being can ever be.Servitor
A Servitor is an immortal being created by a greater divine being (sometimes a more powerful Servitor) to serve as a lieutenant, a messenger, an attendant, or some other form of servant. They range in power from mere imps to mighty archangels, and their form is designed by the divine being who created them. Servitors are granted power by their creator and share a fraction of their power, which can be revoked at any time. The last divine act of a Servitor facing Revocation is generally to take a mortal form in which they can hopefully survive long enough to redeem themselves in the eyes of their creator, or barring that to experience some time as a mortal before dying.Demigod
A Demigod is a divine being born as a child of a deity and a mortal. Unlike other divine beings, demigods are mortal (albeit long-lived), however they are often able to become Ascendants prior to death. Demigods are, despite their mortality, very powerful beings once they reach adulthood, usually extremely strong and smart with the ability to control aspects of the portfolio of their divine parent. In ancient times, many royal families could proudly trace their ancestry back to a demigod as proof of their right to rule.Ascendant
An Ascendant is a formerly non-divine being elevated to divinity by sufficient belief and worship or support from other gods. Ascendants are generally the weakest beings considered deities, with often small portfolios, but even the weakest Ascendant is stronger than all but the most powerful of mortal heroes, who may be well on their way to ascending themselves if they can best an Ascendant in a proper challenge.Fullgod
While the Demigod is the progeny of a deity and a mortal, a Fullgod is the offspring of two divine beings, coming into existence with great power and a portfolio from birth taken from one or both of their parents.Primordials
A Primordial, sometimes referred to as a Titan, is a deity that came about during the Creation, that either sprung into existence from the sheer quantity of raw Creation or that was created deliberately by a coalition of other deities to oversee some fundamental aspect of the world being created. Primordials are second only to Progenitors in terms of power.Progenitors
A Progenitor is one of the original creators. Existing since before Time, Progenitors are unfathomably vast and incalculably ancient beings worshipped by other deities. Little is known to mortals about these "overgods", as they rarely if ever interfere in the affairs of mortals, and likely oversee multiple multiverses.Divine Portfolios
As beings that gain life and strength from mortal belief and worship, many deities govern some aspect of the mortal world, such as the weather, the tide, life, death, birth, or other such things, in order to be more active in their followers' lives without violating the Divine Concordat through direct intervention and thus receive more faith and followers to advance their agendas in the Great Game.
