Beware the Foukka threat.

The dangers of the deep forests.

Of the races of intelligent creatures that dwell in the forests, little is known. The Eldblud are the only that we know fully, for they have lived by our side since the early days after the war. The Alfir keep to their tree villages, and scarce make themselves known to us unless we wander to close to their home trees. The Teva we know even less. Mere sightings, and the second hand tales of a few woodswalkers is all we have to gauge their existence, however it is safe to assume that they have no love for us.   The Foukka may appear to be innocent, or even beautiful but do not trust them. They are foul, our interactions are frequent enough to know that they are not to be trusted and they are no friend to the Empire. Often our traveling parties have been beset by the attacks of these horned devils. They use dark arts and poison tipped weapons and ambush our peaceful caravans from the shadows. The survivors of these attacks are taken captive and tortured. If not for those fortunate enough to escape the bloodshed, we wouldn't even know that.   We have found their foul enclaves in the deep forests, their huts appear to constructed with fungus and magic, emiting strange sounds and odors. It is believed that they sacrifice captives to their creul gods in exchange for the powers within. The woodswalkers say that the prefer to take small children, particularly small girls, as their blood is the most pure, and thus makes the most appeasing sacrifice.   Their magic is foul, and derived from an evil source. There is little protection one can use to keep them safe, once you have entered their territory, and if one should have the ill luck of happening across one while travelling, DO NOT try to fight. It is best to lie down, and pretend to be killed by their attack, this is the only chance to escape, however that is very unlikely.   They possess the cunning and stealth of a Myrkr, and have been reported to ride on their backs hunting stray humans that enter the forest.

Foukka Villages

Artist - Avant Choi - Artstation.com   Their villages consist of large hovels that seem to be constructed of fungus springing up like mushrooms on rocky outcroppings in the rocky mountainous areas of the forest. Three settlements are directly known about, but there is reason to suspect there to be many more. If a traveling party comes across one, DO NOT APPROACH, change direction for the nearest Empire city, and inform the governor of the location of the village. If they are ever to be defeated we need to know about their whereabouts.

Young Foukka Female:

Artist - Nikita Lebedev - Artstation.com   They may appear to be fair, docile, and even kind, however, do not be fooled. They are dangerous and in league with dark forces. Their black magics allow them to call forth the aid of the monsters that dwell in the forests. It is said that they can even enter the minds of their enemies, corrupting the thoughts and actions of them, completely taking them over. Causing brother to kill brother. All travelers be wary. The forest is dark and full of dangers.

I wonder how much of what the Empire believe is true about the Foukka.   I love the image of their village being made of fungus. :D
