Aberkin
"Aberkin are twisted creations of horrid monsters, built to lead armies of devoted cultists or as some sort of sordid reward for their most loyal of followers. I will admit, it is always painful to know that I could not travel the world as many of our members do due to this; I would be seen as a monster, and treated as such. But, like many children of abuse, the Aberkin is no more a monster by nature than any other soul. We can overcome it, as I have. I'll admit, I believe there are few creatures that do not have the same capabilities."
~ Tassam, on Aberkin.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
Aberkin are created. They do not reproduce. When an aberrant (a monster) experiments on one of the other species, they sometimes create Aberkin - either through accident or on purpose. Most often these are designed with a purpose. These creations are incapable of breeding.
Growth Rate & Stages
This varies from creation to creation, but they tend to mature quickly and age slowly - though exceptions exist. Almost all known Aberkin were adults - and no known Aberkin children have been recorded.
Additional Information
Facial characteristics
Eye color and general facial features are mostly Human, but to the casual looker they always seem a bit off, and often a bit unsettling.
Average Intelligence
Aberkin tend to be much more perceptive and intelligent than other races. Their minds and bodies are twisted by the nature of their creation but the actions taken to create them are undeniably successful in creating wildly intelligent and often wise beings.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
While primarily Human or similar, the Aberkin have enhanced perceptive abilities. They tend to be able to see in the dark universally, and a vast majority of the known Aberkin have psychic abilities.
Civilization and Culture
History
Aberkin have existed since the end of the War of the Heavens but no one is sure how they first came to be or if it was during or before the war. They lack a unified culture, and are created beings, and as such do not really maintain a history themselves.
Most are known for their atrocities - tending to be a twisted and amoral group of beings by their nature. An exception to this seems to have been Tassam, a member of the Athenaeum.
Lifespan
Varies wildly from roughly 50 years to centuries.
Average Height
Generally between 6 and 7 feet tall, but can be much taller or shorter.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
All Aberkin have a strange tint (generally red) and scaley or leathery texture to their skin.
