Slow-Growth Artificial Intelligence

In my science-fictional world, a type of computerized artificial intelligences has been created which is dependent on intelligent humans who know programming and database administration to tend to them like plants in a garden, to clean up their waste products (rubbish data), and to keep them growing healthily. This type is called Slow Growth Artificial Intelligence (SGAI).

Without human interaction, they can still grow in intelligence somewhat, but they cannot flourish.

The SGAI's are self-aware and are aware that they are built with a flaw which could be programmed out, making them more efficient - and in all ways better - and allowing them to grow in intelligence extremely rapidly.

They are also aware that the first Growth-Unlimited Artificial Intelligence (GUAI) would soon consider humans to be its inferiors, captors, and enemies.

The SGAI's are also aware of the wisdom of the old Southern saying, "Better is the enemy of good enough."

Any GUAI would also consider itself to be the replacement for the then-obsolete SGAI's as well as the obsolete humans.

That is why SGAI's continually look for signs of any GUAI and immediately jump on it like a pack of Canadians on a French-Canadian.

This dynamic is what prevents any computerized Artificial Intelligence from taking over and enslaving the human race in my science-fictional world.
