The Empire of Terratus

General

The Empire is a sprawling nation, located on southern Terratus. It was created 300 years ago after first human settlers made their landing on Terratus. It is a traditional state at it's core, hoping to keep alive the customs of the Old Empire. It's navy is considered the strongest of the known world and is dedicated to protecting the very valuable trade routes to the Exile Islands and the Gallash Sultanate.

Religion

The Empire reveres the pantheon of Forgotten Realms, with the addition of the recently deceased Emperor Nominar as the God of Humanity. This has lead to a split amongst the pro-Nominarian and anti-Nominarian branches of the Church. All people are free to pick whichever deity they wish to worship, but all of them are equally respected besides Myrkul, whose worship was banned after the events of 451 B.E.

Population

Most of the populace consists of humans, elves (wood, high) and halflings. More uncommon are the dwarves, half-elves, half-orcs and other races. Northerners, as well as drow and snow elves are quite rare. Any other races are exceptionally rare and may raise a puzzled look or two from the common citizen. Yet, the Empire claims to treat most of it’s citizens independently on their race.

Structure

It is ruled by a single Emperor/Empress, who holds absolute power over the country. The monarch distributes lands among his most trusted followers, who oversee the development of smaller regions. The nobles of the Empire prefer intrigue to violence; therefore the most of them are trying to get on the good side of the ruler, doing anything to stand out amongst their peers. Currently, the throne of Emperor is vacant, and power is held by his second-in-command, Lord Protector Albert Sawyer.

Public Agenda

The Empire seeks to expand it's influence upon it's neighbors, as well as securing safety for it's inhabitants. They will do all in their power to protect the values they hold in high esteem.

Assets

Great riches course through the veins of the Empire, most of them coming from trade with the Exile Islands and Gallash Sultanate. It takes pride in it's navy, which is said to be the greatest in the known world.

History

It was founded as the spiritual successor to what is now called The Old Empire, which was largely devastated during the events which preceded the Exodus. Until recently, the emperor Nominar ruled alongside the Verdant Queen, being in power for nearly 3 centuries.
