At the End of Light

Long ago in the time before time, the universe was filled with nothing but everlasting darkness...then the harmony of the night was broken by the birth of the Primal Stars, their glistening light pushing away the eternal dark.   What followed was an age of illuminated expansion as the servant of the Primal Stars set out to conquer the night sky and carve out their own nations under the guiding lights of their gods.   And while the darkness and its creatures fiercely opposed them at every step, in the end, the forces of light remained triumphant and banished them to the farthest, most umbral corners of the cosmos.   ...   Nowadays this time of stellar conquest is nothing but a fading memory, for after innumerable millennials of uncontested rulership the hegemony of the Primal Stars is, at last, coming to an end.   Yet even though their downfall is all but inevitable the forces of light refuse to go quietly into the dark night and so through a combination of faithful zeal, arcane technology, and the sheer size of their domain they so far succeeded in holding the armies of the night at bay.   With the attention of the Dark Lords and Ladies, gradually shifting towards the governing of their already conquered territories and the endless bickering over the new eternal Dark Order of the universe, the war against the light has begun to slow into an agonizing crawl.   With the way things are going the light of the Primal Stars will therefore continue to shine for centuries to come... that is if not a champion of the dark rises to release the universe from the burden of light.   While many have tried to do just that, they all failed in their task... but maybe just maybe YOU will be the one that at long last brings about ...the End of Light?
