Snow Lion

"He moved with the grace of a Snow Lion"

The Snow Lion is a mighty beast who stalks the snowy tops of the Umamthakom Mountains. They can leap up to 10 metres in distance while hunting and can fall 20 metres while landing on their legs.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The snow lion is a large feline creature with white fur and icy blue manes. While resting these manes droop over its head but flows with the wind when the snow lion begins to run. Both the male and female snow lion possess manes, although those of the males are slightly longer.

Genetics and Reproduction

Snow Lions mate with a single partner and produce litters of 2 to 3 young. The snow lioness sweats milk from special glands in her paws. Her cubs then lick the milk from her paws. This milk is said to be full of beneficial nutrients which restores one's body and mind from any ailment and brings the drinker back into balance.

Ecology and Habitats

Snow lions lives on the snowy summits of mountains, usually at the border of the treeline were trees become more rare. In this snowy landscape they use their white fur to camouflage themselves from the sight of their prey. In the snow they move which such care and grace that their paws never leave any prints behind them, which makes some people believe that the snow lion can levitate.

Social Structure

Snow lions live in prides of two to four individuals, usually with 2 males and 2 females. Both genders hunt together, with the females stalking the prey and the males controlling its movement with the use of their roar. The roar of a male snow lion is powerful enough to cause small avalanches, which can either trap their prey directly or block a potential escape route.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

To the dwarves the snow lion represents the power of the mountains themselves and their solitude. The dwarves like to capture snow lions and fight them in their colosseum exactly because of this cultural associating. The gladiators want to proof to themselves and the rest of the world that they are stronger than the mountains by fighting a snow lion.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Snow Lions have yellow eyes which are capable of seeing through thin materials like snow and flesh. These eyes allow them to find their prey while its hiding in the snowy landscape.
