Guilds and Factions
Salwich is home to the Sgwad Sgowtiad, a large international organisation dedicated to the eradication of evil. The Sgwad Sgowtiad is known for its secretive nature and a such most uninitiated people outside of Salwich do not know of their existence, which is the way the organisation likes it. It is only in Salwich where the Sgwad Sgowtiad are open to the general populace and transparent with their actions (as far as possible).
History
The town of Salwich was originally settled in 591 as a fishing outpost. Over the years it slowly developed into a small town until a dark day came in the year 835 AD. On this day the town was visited by a group of 90 monstrous crocodile man, called the Petsuchos. The came from across the horizon in search of ways to honour fire, which they saw as their god. At first the locals were welcoming to the weird creatures, offering them fish and a place to rest. But then they attacked, burned the town down with their foul pyromancies and sacrificing the inhabitants to their holy flame. Those who escaped the devastation by running into the hills were quickly hunted down and enslaved by the Petsuchos until only 160 people remained. They survived by hiding in the caves of the jagged cliffs that surrounded Salwich and by hunting fish and birds. A small group of these survivors began to form a guerrilla force and began to slowly withered down the invaders. Eventually they had killed enough of the cruel pyromancers that the remaining petsuchos fled the town. The survivors liberated the remaining slaves and together they refounded Salwich. These man used the knowledge they learned from fighting the petsuchos to battle evil across the island and they would eventually began a small monster hunting school which grew into what is now called the Sgwad Sgowtiad.
