Emerald Forests

"When the mist rolls over the hills of the Emerald Forest, that is when the barrier between the waking and dreaming world is at its thinest."

The Emerald Forests is a densely forested area in the north-west of Astronasia that grows around the Glasglas river delta. It is home to a large mixed population of Star Elves and Humans, and many Half-Elves point to this forest as their birthplace. The lands are ruled by the Tanistry of Alba, under guidance of the Witch queen Bé-Fáil.

Geography

The Emerald Forest exists out of a giant river delta that flows and slithers through the rolling hills known as the glasglas river. This river delta brings valuable water to the plants around it, turning the forest into one of the rare forested areas on the continent.

Fauna & Flora

The Emerald Forest is densely populated by evergreen conifer trees. In some areas these are covered in a coat of moss. Boulders that rest in the area get a coating made out of clover patches. The wildlife in the area is unlike any found outside of the forests. Young nobleman from across the world come to these forests to hunt down the elusive White Harts, thou few are able to capture it. But these young nobles have to be careful that they don't become prey to the giant Dire Wolf, a massive black beast that stalks its prey between the trees. However dangerous these beasts might be, people still have managed to tame them. Only the most powerful individuals can control a Dire Wolf, and even fewer can ride them, thou this has been proven to be possible.

Natural Resources

The emerald forest got its name from its two most valuable resources: Conifer wood and emeralds. The first part, the wood, is very easy to acquire in the area, although some woodcutters do happen to disappear in the middle of the night, leaving nothing but the howling of Dire Wolfs behind. The emeralds are only slightly harder to find, as the veins run across the land as if it was a living creature. The locals make many wonderful objects from these emeralds. Anything from jewellery, to magical wands, to plates. In the capital of Alba there even is a pub cut out of a single giant piece of emerald.
