Articles of Secession

The Articles of Secession are a series of political agreements which resulted in the separation of Brabantsia and the Laiscuit League from the Unified Rim Area. When the articles of secession were ratified they officially signalled the end of decade long civil war in the Unified Rim Area known as the Metal wars.

Purpose

The Articles of Secession were written by the leaders of the Brabantsian and Laiscuit rebellions to officially declare their desires of secession from the Unified Rim Area. The first copy of these articles were sent the counsel of the Rim, but were returned with a dagger through them. Only after the battle of the Wolge, where the Nation guard of the Rim lost 5 percent of their entire army, that the counsel of the Rim became willing to begin peace negotiations, ending with them signing the Articles of Secession.

Document Structure

Publication Status

The Articles of Secession hang on display in hallways of the League-general assembly, the legislative body of the Laiscuit League government. Here only members of the assembly have access to it, as it is believed to be in the best interest of the general public that mere commoners should not be able to damage it. The Laiscuit League gained ownership over the document after a short war with Brabantsia for the rights to it. The Brabantsian duke still claims to have the right to the document as it was one of his ancestors who signed the document in the first place.

Articles of Secession

We the different people of the Rim, hereby officially declare that we, after several years of fighting each other, will separate ourselves into three realms. For a hundred and fifty years the Rim area has been unified into a single state in a great experiment. We now recognise that this experiment has brought nothing but failure, destruction, and death to the people. The counsel, who we the people tasked with governing the united Rim, has caused devastation across our lands and delivered us nothing but poverty. For this very reason we request now that we bid farewell to arms and that our peoples are allowed to separate in peace.
We the humans of Brabantsia demand that our historical, pre-unification borders are restored to their full extent in what is now the eastern borderlands of the Unified Rim. By signing this document we also officially recognised the righteous claim of the Brabantsian monarch to our dukedom and allow him to return to power so that we might return to our own ways of life.
We the Gnomes of Laiscuit forcefully request that the southern lands which our soldiers currently occupy are allowed to stays under our control and are allowed to be restored to their ruling families without the fear of reoccupation from either Brabantsia or the Rim. We offer these families our hand in friendship so we might together form a new realm which prospers for generations.
You the people of the Rim, are to hold onto the north-western territories, which have either stayed loyal to the counsel or which are currently under the national guard's control.
We the signatories of this document officially state that we accept the claims in this document and that the three realms shall remain separate from each other once again. We acknowledge that where we see each others as foes in battle, we will see each other as friends in peace. In honour, in commerce, and in peace.
