Space Whale (spās (h)wāl)

A space whale is a ginormous creature for long journeys. They vary in cool colors like blues, greens, some purples. Each color having a category of size. Blue whales are smaller than the rest and can carry 4 passengers comfortably. Green whales are also passenger whales but can hold up to 10 passengers comfortably. The purple whales are the largest of the whales and used more for transporting cargo to other planets. They can carry enough cargo to supply a few worlds. They also require each person attending to cargo to have one of the rarer whale stones. Each whale has something called an enclosed saddle that can carry around 4 passengers (blue whales). You can get a custom saddle made to carry more passengers, but these saddles are VERY expensive because they include the price to own a green space whale. Artisans are basically making a home for the passengers to dwell while on the whale. To ride a space whale, you need something called a whale stone. They are small light green crystals that look very similar to the Sims icon. Whale stones are infused with magical properties that protect the owner. The whale absorbs the magic stored in the stones creating a force field around the saddle. When the number of passengers equals the number of stones the enclosure will form. This is a great safety measure as stowaways are never seen, and passengers never have to worry about an imminent death when the whale departs. The whale can sense the magic of the stones as well as the minds of those on them and will not leave unless there is enough magic to protect all passengers. The enclosure provides a space to breathe freely and roam about while also functioning as a sort of force field. When the whale absorbs the magic from the crystals it causes the crystals to weaken and eventually break. The space whales need the magic of the stones so they can form the force field and survive in space without breathing. Space whales are intelligent creatures that can only speak telepathically and who are fond of humanoids wishing them no harm. Since the whales need the stones magic to travel in space, they rely on races like the humans of Esterdragon to harvest them. Space whales operate like a bus system. There are "stations" or worlds they will stop at to recharge and give passengers an opportunity to explore a new world or just get some fresh air.
