Rattle Signals Language in Astraeus Zephyrus | World Anvil

Rattle Signals

Rattle Signals is a exclusive audio language that only the Horridus Sseth'kal know how to use.   It was first used when the Horridus Sseth'kal guards in the prison in the Badlands needed a way to communicate and not allow the prisoners to know what they were saying. The first Horridus that used the Rattle Signals was Ha'Razlee Vul't and the three other workers in the prison with Ha'Razlee.   This language can be taught to some of the other Sseth'kal, but most of the Horridus don't want to because it's way more halarious to see the reactions of the other Clutches. The favorite reactions of the Horridus, it Bitis because of the twin confusion that both heads give.
A Horridus Sseth'kal shakes his rattle in a series of fast movements with his tail.
"What do you want?" A Bitis Sseth'kal looks at the Horridus with a panic building up in their shared body.
The Horridus continued to shake his rattle, wanting to say that the Bitis heads are looking very nice today.
"What is it?!" The Bitis Sseth'kal starts backing away from the Horridus for fear that he was going to strike them at any moment. "Alright I'm gone!"
"I was only saying that they looked nice today. Huh, I guess not everyone can take a compliment like we can." The Horridus walks away sad because of the rudeness of the Bits Sseth'kal.
— A misunderstanding between Horridus and Bitis Sseth'kal
With each shake of the rattle, the Horridus speak. The language itself is a series of shakes and pauses from the rattle on the end of the Horridus Sseth'kal.   When trying to have a conversation with the Horridus, you should listen to their tails because this not only is what they want to say, but this can also give be a sign that will let others know they need to start walking away now.
