Homeland Returners
The cult that seeks to return to the ancestral home of man
"Our Journey will take us home, the prophet has foreseen it in the stars!"The Homeland Returners are a large, cult like, organised religion, popular across the whole Galaxy of Astraesto. They believe that a return to the 'Holy Land', The Homeland, is the catalyst for the greatest golden age in Human history. Unlike many other religions, the Homeland Returners have no deity that pray to, they simply pray to one-another, that they may one day see the great Homeland for themselves. Many consider the Homeland an equivalent to heaven, and that those that die return there in the afterlife. The Homeland Returners are one of the oldest organised religions in the Galaxy, that were not already present throughout the original colonists. The first members of the religion gathered around 1112, which is near universally considered the official founding of the order. The former Empire of Apalareas is home to the largest groups of Homeland Returners, and certain sectors in the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets, are home to many as well. The Homeland Returners have several subgroups within them as well, most of which are considered cults by Governments. Several have been put down by force, the most famous of which was the 3978 Fendalli Complex Siege, which ended after all inside drank poison, in open defiance of the surrounding Jeraci forces.
Divine Origins
The origins of this religion are found within The Homeland, and the subsequent communication failure that followed human expeditions to the Galaxy of Astraesto.
