Echocom Dictate
A Writing Software that dominates the Federation
Echocom Dictate is a word processor developed by Echocom. It has gone through 9 iterations, with the first being released on October 30th, 4640, and the latest on May 13th, 4760. It has become the primary writing software in the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets, with it's largest competitor ___ focusing instead on the 4th Empire of Jerace.
In 4635 Echocom hired Johnathon Mick and Daisy Falasco to develop a new software to compete with Colomba Engineering's monopoly on the word processor market, which had only increased after a partnership with Envis Shipyards Incorporated. The two began development on the new software around 3647, assembling a team from a variety of tech companies. With Jack Brodie taking on the role of primary software engineer.
The final product, originally called ___ was announced by Echocom in December of 4639, it was marketed as the newest and best writing software ever made. Soon after the announcement Echocom first demonstrated the Dictate.
Despite heavy marketing and early predictions of sales, the Dictate originally sold quite poorly, failing to reign in sales against their largest competitors, especially those sold by Colomba Engineering. Despite good reviews, it was considered inferior to Colomba's own word processors. Over the coming months updates would steadily be released, that eventually began to increase sales figures.
A big break for the product came when Colomba Engineering came under Federal investigation for tax fraud, and for leaking several classified military documents to the public. Envis Shipyards soon broke their partnership with the company, and instead began eyeing Echocom. A deal was finalized in 4644, which saw Echocom become an official business partner of Envis Shipyards Incorporated, and it's affiliates, the biggest of which was the Federation Navy.
Echocom Dictate is the official word processor of the Federation Armed Forces.
